Just a reminder, I am planning a day trip to Anime Central on Saturday May 17. I’d love a chance to meet-and-greet any Selkie readers who’ll be there but since I couldn’t get a table my tentative plan is to[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
I've been referring to this whole scene as Operation: Fuster Cluck in my head.
A belated thank you to everyone who offered feedback on my “reading Selkie with kids” question earlier. It was just something I’d been bouncing around my head, glad to hear thoughts on it.
Wanted to have Amanda sing "Do you wanna build a snowman" in panel 3 but didn't feel the association between that and stacking kids atop each other was quite readily apparent enough.
Rrgh. – – – – – This may seem like a weird question, but I am curious about something. I was thinking while finishing this strip up that earlier in the comic I would hear comments from readers about reading[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
This scene needs more popped collars and sideways caps.
Little State of the Comic note for this week. I mentioned on the previous strip’s notes that I would have to miss Friday’s strip and maybe even Wednesday’s, if you recall. I am on a trip this week and am[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
Dagger Stare, like Incandescent Light Bulb Head, is more classic cartoon iconography. Mina does not have super dagger-manifestation powers. Well, not at this point of the story, anyway...
Not gonna bother tagging them since they’re tertiary background cast members, but the three floating heads, er, kids in panel 2 are Selkie’s classmates: Caitlyn, Paulo, and “Star”. – – – – – Quick announcements. Firstly, Selkie’s made it into[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
My original concept for the library was a towering array of bookshelves filled to the brim. But I scaled back a bit owing to the strip's semi-realistic approach to things (I don't think public elementary schools have towering bookshelves). Ceiling's still ridiculously high up, though.
ComicMix is doing their Webcomic March Madness contest again this year. If so willing, please vote for Selkie. 😀
Never really found an organic spot to fit this in during the snowball fight arc and it still feels a bit forced here, but I wanted to just touch base on how Tony knows all these kids well enough that they'll come running to a crew call: -Mike Rob Gideon and "Tommy the Truck" are friends from a community football league run through the school (He also has Rob Mike and Gideon as classmates). -Giselle is friends with Rob through their mothers (https://selkiecomic.com/comic/selkie352/), and friends with Tony and Mike through him. Also a classmate. -Lynni is Gideon's fraternal twin sister. She's in class with Sandy and Wu. Knows the rest through her brother.
If you need a reminder, this was Tony’s role in the events of last week. (and as always, corrections to Tony’s french are welcomed happily. Don’t be shy.)
I can't hear "How you doin'?" without flashing back to the 1990s and "Friends".
-EDIT- Apparently I forgot to draw Todd’s rash. Not the first time that’s happened either. XD A few weeks ago I had the privilege to visit a classroom in my town after the teacher saw the article about me in[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
Dialogue in a previous strip implied Amanda had already left the office between strips. I didn't really mean for that to be the case. :(
