I could forgive people if they thought Crook and Triceratops had just disappeared somewhere. According to the tags the last time I drew them on panel, the comic was in triple digits.
I think of Crook's little "zaa" a sounding like a chirp. Had a maine coon a few years back who did that. She didn't meow, she chirped.
Aaaaaaand with Selkie nodding off to sleep after a difficult week-and-a-half (in-story) of getting bullied then fighting to clean up the mess, we call it “closed” on the Trunchbull arc. The characters stories and information within it won’t go away,[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
I was going to go with a silly ending, but I felt this whole arc deserved something with a bit more closure.
Questions raised. Folks, thank you for your patience with the Resource Limit Reached troubles the past couple days. My host did a server-swap to move Selkie to a less troubled server, so hopefully the issue will be resolved. It’s definitely[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
I don't know when I decided Selkie is a sleep-drooler, but... yeah, totes a sleep-drooler.
Been meaning to make a vector template background for that kitchen for awhile. Finally did it for this strip. May add a few more details to it for later use though.
Just another reminder to those interested/nearby the Reno Nevada area that I will be in the artist alley of SNAFU-Con at the end of October. I’ve put a little sticky note in the sidebar for reference. Oh, and the landslide[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
So while putting together this next arc I realized I'd overlooked a timeline blunder: Selkie unleashes the Cell Phone Gambit on a Monday, then on the following day (a Tuesday) has the final confrontation followed with a dream sequence. Originally I wanted the strategy meeting to take place on the Tuesday of that week because the PTA meeting is on Wednesday evening. HOWEVER, I wrote a dream sequence as the ending scene of that whole bit, which suggests the finale piece takes place Tuesday night... which I realized too late means that for the strategy meeting to happen on a Tuesday, the comic's narrative has to make some awkward and clumsy timeline skips if the next arc takes place AFTER the first 95% of the previous arc but BEFORE the last 5%. Requires less narrative juggling to have both the strategy coffee AND the PTA meeting happen on the Wednesday of the week this all takes place in. If that gives Todd Selkie and Mina a very very busy Wednesday, well c'est la vie. :3
Triceratop’s tank is plastic, so he’s not gonna hurt himself by bumping it. I’ve received a lot of feedback about the dream sequence since announcing it’s end, both good and bad. I grateful for all of you readers, and I[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
I was going to put a translated sample of the Selkie Language in the dream sequence, but decided it would fit better here.
The dream sequence was fun. I hope everyone enjoyed the silliness, but now we’re back to the real world. 😀 Or are we…. ???? … We are. I hate False Awakenings. XD
This dream sequence went through a LOT of re-writes over the course of it's run. There was actually going to be a third act after the centaurinas which led in to the Big Fall that I cut entirely. I even had pencils done, but it would have extended the dream sequence right to the middle of SEPTEMBER. I was also going to have Selkie simply wake up due to the fear and the fall, but I had an idea for another option that also allowed for me to use my Giant Crook idea after all. :D
First of a few short story segments. After spending so long on the events of one day, it’s refreshing and a bit strange to write a one-page joke comic like this. XD A little background information on this strip: I[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
Today's edition of the Secret Commentary is empty, because Dave failed to come up with something for it.
