First comic of winter break! I don’t have grades yet, but I feel pretty confident about this semester. Thanks again for your understanding, everyone, when I had to shelve the comic for a bit the last couple weeks. I’ll probably[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
My original exit line for Andi was going to be "You know Selkie's eventually leave for the ocean, right?" The whole scene was originally a lot angrier and more bitter on both sides, but after actually sitting down to work on it, it became more... "world crashing around you" -y, and I feel that original line is a bit too snipe-y for what Andi's feeling right now.
I am so sorry about the rushed and sloppy and generally disgusting comic today gang. I suffered a really big setback this weekend. My desktop computer got a really big virus infection. Pop-up ads kept blaring out every few minutes,[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
I thought I would try drawing the background regularly since I was pressed for time. It's sloppy and rushed and I freaking hate it. >_<
I am sorry about the half-comic again gang. Afraid I just had a lot going on with schoolwork and other miscellanea this weekend. On the subject of my schoolwork, I am afraid I must make a sad announcement. I have[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
If Todd's face rash seemed MIA in the last strip, I sort of flubbed my continuity check on that one. Thanks to Luna_et_Noctis for catching my error, it has since been fixed.
So, let me say first thing, what you are seeing right now is NOT another of my style-change experiments. I assume that’s the first thing people will think upon seeing this. XD Basically, I lost a lot of my comicing[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
Writing the dialogue for this fight/break-up/argument has been a little difficult for me. Partly because it is derived from real-world experiences, partly because I keep wanting to pepper the dialogue with hard swears and having to go back and re-evaluate it. If I was writing Todd and Andi's dialogue the way I tend to talk in real life when upset, there'd be a LOT of little black bars on the speech bubbles.
If I (mentally) scribbled my timeline notes right, Andi started calling a little less than a week before the adoption day, and this meeting was put off until they had a chance to talk without child’s ears around, so it’s[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
I mentioned in Andi's cast page entry that she has an in-progress back tattoo themed around the Epic of Gilgamesh. I wanted to get at least one shot of it worked in. I think it will probably become a continuity nightmare. XD
For those that may be interested, I uploaded a couple of my better student art projects to my Deviant Art account. http://eclipsing-saturn.deviantart.com/gallery/ Some of the items in that gallery are oooooollllld, so don’t judge me too harshly. XD
I was going to have Todd offer Andi a beer, but then I remembered it's still late morning at this point in the narrative. This almost led me to include a line about how Todd decided to stop keeping beer in the apartment because of post-adoption inspections, but it was too wordy to squeeze in.
Aaaand scene change. 😀 Probably silly to post this a second time, but based on reader feedback I made a few more changes to the seating chart. I replaced the X placeholder name for the orphans that were surrendered as[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
I didn't mention it last time due to forgetfulness, but I am playing with no panel borders, based on some critical feedback from one of my professors during a student work critique.
To my fellow American readers, happy Labor Day! 😀 Sorry to make the holiday post one with kids being mean. I wanna share the latest fan art update while I am here! Courtesy of FlanFlanShazam, two Selkie inspired drawings: Thank[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
I think "psychic devil orphan" sounds like something that might come out of Georges mouth.
Oh man you guys, I thought this one was gonna be delayed, but I pulled it off! This semester I have night classes on Mondays and Wednesdays, and I was a bit worried about the Thursday updates. Hopefully, you’ll never[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
Marla B. Sanderson is a former mayor of Calumet City (where the comic takes place) who had a strong presence in the education system.
Soon Selkie’s palate will expand to birdses, cowses, maybe even kangarooses. (A friend of mine told me over the weekend about how he had tried kangaroo steak in Iowa and he thought it was really good. I’m a bit curious[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
I decided to add a few touches to the apartment that I didn't fully think about previously (appliances, functional handles on the stove and refrigerator, etc). I have learned that I can not draw can openers.
