someone better enlighten grandma that its going to wash out or she´ll keel over from seeing all the colour 😉 and why am i not surprised at amanda and clyde getting on? both have more nergy then the energizer bunny, can be pretty annoying and loud! also note to andi: if your kid wants a pet, no other present will cut it. also, that ‘maybe another time’ comment is going to haunt you for years to come at every christmas+birthday until you give in.
Yeah my mom was very surprised that I remembered her offhand promise to get me a puppy when I’m old enough to walk it myself from when I was like… six. Until I was like sixteen (and we actually got to getting a pet… well, a cat, but I’ve long wanted that instead of a puppy. I just remembered mom’s promise to hold her to)
Anyway, judging from Andi’s parenting style so far, she probably doesn’t expect Amanda to not hold her to that, and really is just acknowledging that it’s too late for a puppy to be her present this Christmas.

I just wanted to share that because of this comic, I tried Chai tea for the first time in my life yesterday. I really liked it.

Yes, I’m aware that chai means “tea” and Sahara means “desert.” I view those types of repetitive phrases somewhat differently than ones like “ATM machine” and “PIN number” in that the later sometimes bother me, though still not much.

cool I like all the different hairs. I think Andi has sort of ‘lightning stripes’ of natural hair color across a neon green? That or she left the roots natural and dyed the ends neon and this is some weird parting of the hair. She seems to have cut it all short and is experimenting with how to comb it.

Yeah, I was thinking about that not too long ago. I came across the cat when I was looking through some old strips (I think about Selkie’s bow), and I was like, “Oh, yeah.”

My mom had a beagle terrier mix growing up. It’s a long story but thats the reason I have beagles today!

Before you promise Amanda a puppy, Todd, you better take note that Andi lives in a really small apartment which may or may not be pet friendly. You better make sure she can have one before get her hopes up.
I initially made the same mistake (fairly easy too when you don’t look at the sketch version to carefully), but that’s Andi responding to Amanda about the dog, not Todd.
I thought it was Todd too! Actually thought it was amusing he’d changed his hair that much.

Want a pet? a major rule in our home and it prevents taking in sporadic ‘can we keep it?’ strays is write a five page report on it to include diet, health issues, exercise and activity levels, history of breed or environment of species.

That’s a nice one! Also ensures that people don’t buy rabbits, turtles, or alligators that they’re not prepared to deal with after they’re past the cute stage.
Gotta ask… What kinda dog IS Clyde? That does look like an actual puppy as in a young dog, and not one several years old, given how small he looks in panels 2 and 3.

He’s a beagle-terrier with splashes of other unidentifiables. He’s not very old, about four, so he’s full grown but still young and energetic.
His behavior/energy level reminds me of our dogs when there were about 1-1.5 (my hard-core dog trainer friends still call dogs at that age “puppies” or babies even though most dogs definitely look adult by that point). Adult bodies, but still very much puppy brains. They are still kind of hyper now (herding breed mixes), but there was a certain crazed exuberance when they were younger you don’t see 100% of the time.
Ack! there=they were. Tired. No thanks to dogs who always get up at 6:30am… Even on a Saturday after I binge-watched Steven’s Universe the night before.
Frickin’ love Mari’s face in the last panel. Even if it’s sketched out it reminds me of when I was in high school and I cut my hair short ( It was to mid back and a hassle since it was super thick ) And right around Christmas too. My Gran’s face was very similar to Mari’s!
LOVE the colours, Dave! So vibrant! And yes, Mari’s reaction is priceless.
Wonder if Andi brought her hair dyes with her? Maybe some of the rest of the family will want to join in.

If you’re not feeling good, you do what you have to do to take care of yourself. If that means a black and white strip or even NO strip for that day, so be it. We’ll live and anyone that gives you grief is a fair weather fan.
