Seaweed grows in salt water and they are fresh water inhabitants. It would be more likely for them to use freshwater plants or algae. I don’t know how they would handle heavy salt loads since I don’t think they would eat much of it naturally.
To expand on earlier speculation, I think Todd is about to call Scar out on his white lie, but at the same time, thank him for doing what he did and allowing his relationship with Selkie to continue intact. Scar has pretty much stated out loud he doesn’t see himself as father material, and someone worthy of the job has assumed that mantle.
Perhaps he also is able to be more truthful in the absence of Then’s partner who has mentioned wanting to use the girls’ power for his own uses. He may think that denying paternity in front of Smith might protect Selkie in some way.
Hey! I just discovered this comic and spent the past two weeks binge-reading it, and I finally got caught up today. I love the characters, dialogue, and humor — it’s impressive how this comic can consistently make me laugh even in the middle of dramatic moments. Right now I would say that Selkie is in a virtual tie with Keychain of Creation and Gunnerkrigg Court for my all-time favorite webcomic. Really great work!
I’m also about halfway through Sue & Kathryn! I loved the Carrotcake arc.
