(Second panel, speech bubble “Do you want to talk about how that feels” might work a trifle better if the pointer didn’t point at Selkie, making it appear like she is talking.)
Mister Scar is going to be paying for his sins soon
I think Todd needs to fully teach the lesson his family taught him growing up. The closest of family is rarely blood. It’s those who find their place in our hearts. I say this as someone who has had a relationship with my real father and mother but had good step parents who taught me this lesson. I also have a woman who I call a sister who has always been there for me when I needed her and vice versa.
It’s not Selkie’s blood parents that matter… It’s Todd. Todd is there, Todd is her father.
Very well put. I was thinking, as I was reading it, that when she said “if he’s my…” Todd should have broken in and said, “he’s not your father. I am!”
The cake is a lie but chips are very real.

Kale is not real. It is a horror story created by parents to make the kids finish their broccoli.
You know how they found a cultivar of Brussels sprouts that didn’t taste like farts, and now Brussels sprouts are delicious?
They didn’t find one for kale.
(Incidentally, I recently tried pickled mustard greens from my local Asian market. They’re delicious but they definitely taste a bit like farts.)

“He may have been your father, girl, but he wasn’t your daddy.”
“Kale chips” sound absolutely vile.
