Now I started to wonder how is it easy to tell. Face markings are one thing I’ve noticed but that, I’ve assumed, is because Selkie has so far been the only Jin’Sorai child we’ve seen.
In #1650 we can see her skin right next to Plo Quar’s. She’s more of a pale lavender to Selkie’s periwinkle, so if all Jin’Sorai are similarly purplish, yeah it seems like it would be pretty obvious. #406 has another Jin’Sorai, again with the more purplish skin.
Oh, crud. Is this going to be where Selkie starts putting two and two together about Scar and her mom…?
If I remember right, she knows Scar was formerly a bad person and tried to imprison her mom, but I don’t think it occurred to her yet that Scar could be her bio-father.
Yeah, I think that was already figured out. She dropped eaves on a conversation between Scar and Dad, and figured out that Scar was her bio-dad by non-consent and was super mad for a hot minute.
Scar was speculating out loud that he might be bio-dad and Todd had some words.
Since we haven’t seen where Scar has a family, and is supposedly permanently residing in the underwater colony focused on building and care of refugees, I don’t suspect that Scar is the “Dad” for these kids, but another of his clan. This would just be another bi-racial family.
I went back to check, and it does not look like Selkie’s conception was not consensual. #1315 (almost six years ago now, wow!) implies that they had a relationship, with him even having a pet name for her. He betrayed her by turning her in for the bounty, but he didn’t force himself on her.
As for Selkie having figured it out… debatable. Her reaction afterwards was focused solely on her outrage for his betrayal. She did have a dream sequence that night that included the phrase ‘Hurt is where you come from, hurt is who you are’ and later asks if she is ‘doomed to hurt people’ so, maybe? She’s a pretty perceptive kid, but she is still just a kid. She might not have connected those particular dots.
It’s been strongly implied that the reason Selkie was such a powerful Echo so young was that both of her parents are extremely powerful Echoes in their own right.
Maybe Scar isn’t her bio father but he has reason to think he is.
Oh… So we’re going there now. She isn’t wrong…
I wonder how she is gonna react to Selkie being adopted.
I wonder how Selkie is gonna react to looking like two Clans.
if she was half sar’teri, wouldnt she look like Bohn Bohn? Is it possible she has mor’kama blood?

selkies about to have a kidlife crisis (omg my question was 6+7 help) but ye ig both the girls are gonna know their bio parents now lol
And what clan is Scar? Hmmmmmmm?
This explains the comment Pohl made to his wife after the first time he saw Selkie.
Very subtle, if possibly unintentional at the time, Dave.
“I *think* she’s Jin’Sorai.”

He betrayed her by trying to turn her in for the bounty. Then he got blown up.
That is *not* a dumb question. Sensitive question, yes. Dumb? Definitely not. Good job, girly!
OH SNAAAAAAAAP
Not if Scar is her bio dad.

Bah. This is what happens when I try to post from my phone and before coffee.
That was supposed to be a reply to ellerie on the first post from Anime-Mun.
Welp, I guess we’re opening that can of eels.
