The backpack is a joke gift, it was $1 from a thrift store. It was only $1 because it’s horrible.
Didn't realize until tonight that I don't think I've actually DRAWN Mary and Theo in attendance at the party yet. ... woops.

I’m not crying, you’re crying! Keisha and Amanda are adorable!
What’s the blue game, can’t make it out.
I think it says tiny large world, aka “in comic canon” for little big planet
Cheers, don’t even know that one.
Plumber is obvious, and farm pricess would be rune factory 4 ref I think? 😀
I would have held out for Celestialcondensation Gorge, personally. 😉
I aaaaaaalmost went with something like that. XD
If that’s Stardew Valley, then yays ^_^
I’ve been having so much fun with that game. Even started a Let’s Play!
Instead of inheriting the estate, I’m a thief on the run after a bank heist gone wrong, I end up stuck in the valley, find that everyone speaks Spanish (which leads to communication difficulties), and eventually figure out that they all think I’m the farmer they were expecting (who is nowhere to be found).
So I pretend to be the farmer, so they don’t get suspicious and turn me over to the cops.
If the plot interests you, it’s on YouTube, called “A Fugitive in Stardew Valley.” Got like five episodes up so far.
Farm Princess isnt intended as any specific reference, just a general farming sim style game.
I’d play Farm Princess. At least for a while.
…scratch that, my brain is already coming up with plot reasons for a princess to have to resort to farming. I could see *making* this game….
Kayla is correct.
Awwwww!
Now that’s cool. :3 I wonder what kind of story Keisha wrote and if we’ll get to see it.
I like how Amanda has the “Must be polite about gift I hate” reaction *mostly* down 😉
Yeah, she’s not perfect, but she’s trying; I’ve seen adults do worse.
pff, she likes Super Plumber and Farm Princess but she doesn’t like Peek-At-You, the mascot of Container Creatures? Those guys are all friends. Not like Tiny Large World where they missed the point. Kids these days.
Clearly she prefers Scorchliz, final metamorphosis of the Scorchsala line.
At the orphanage, kids would have very little pocket money. Writing stories is a wonderful way to give a gift that costs almost nothing in money, but a lot, in time and thought. A notebook and a $1 joke bag must have taken a sizeable chunk out of Keisha’s resources.
It’s great to see Amanda’s reaction here. When she first left the orphanage, she badly wanted proof that this time was different, that Andi cared about her. She asked for expensive presents because she’d never had any. She is now feeling more secure, and hasn’t fallen into the trap of money = love. …probably because none of the adults around her have been sending that message.
There’ll still be ups and downs, I’m sure. But this birthday party is a milestone. It shows how much healing she has done already.
Well analyzed. Our Amanda has come a long way.
This is one of the real hallmarks of Dave’s writing: Characters I couldn’t stand at the start become endearing. Or if not endearing, then at least relatable. There are so few series that really make an effort to establish each significant character as their own person with no Brand X Villain among them.
Because you can have antagonism without villainy. And Amanda’s getting to the stage where antagonism with Selkie is far less hostile, which is really nice to see (having them turn all buddy-buddy too easily would be less realistic, and less fun).
That backpack is amazing! I want it!

The hell is wrong with you, man? Delete.
We’ll this seems like the kind of comic where this comment should be deleted…
Goddamn. I would totally adopt Keisha. What a complete sweetheart. Hey Dave, if Keisha needs an adoptive mom who works as a chef and likes books and video games, I’m your gal! …Although I am pretty sure Lillian would never agree.
