I decided this daydream sequence would be a good opportunity to introduce a format change in how the comic is presented. Everyone, say hello to my good friend: color!
Since the daydream sequence is kick-starting the addition of color to the comic, I retroactively colorized the last panel of the previous comic. Since I did this after-the-fact, you may want to go back and see what the kids look like colorized!
Additionally, I had a small item I wanted to address regarding the wings on Selkie’s dress. I don’t normally like to do anything that discourages speculation/theorizing, but in this regard I felt I should say something. The wings are part of her dress, a pattern on the back. Selkie does not have wings. I wanted to make an “offical statement” on this because Selkie is going to be changing clothes in the near future (I don’t want this to be an “always the same outfit” comic), and when the wings are gone I’d hate for it to seem that they just disappeared.
-smiles and smiles fades a bit- i can see wow i just got a shiver when i finish this last peace your going to get it too from this fan art that can be called a 7 page filler
*likes*
Hey Dave mate, sorry I haven’t talked to you for awhile, still pulling an all-nighter for my chemistry finals. So far so good on the coloring btw
… He’s… He’s adopting _two_ kids?
Goodness me. 😀
When I realized that the second child in the strip is actually himself, I had a jolt of emotion. Poor guy. It was it a little difficult to realize it was him, because I’d always imagined him with dark brown hair.
.. I could’ve sworn the other kid was Mark. Good eye.
Is okay, It was hard for me too.
Wow, that must’ve been a tough childhood. I love the coloring. It only adds to the awesomeness of this comic.
Loving this comic so far. I’m definitely going to be checking back regularly to see what happens. I have a list of comics I check every day, and this is on it now. Ironically, five of the others are on your Links to Good Things! down there. You have good taste, gives me confidence in where this comic is going. XD
Awesome strip today- even awesomer that its in color- will color be a permanent thing now, or only the signifier of Dreaming?
The color is permanent. 🙂
*smiles sadly and hugs Todd* You’re gifted dude. I think I get the tattoos now. But, this is kind of good in a way, because it ties him closer to Selkie. I at least hope she keeps her wing dress. It would be nice to see it again later sometime. Or it’d be cool if that was her thing. *nodding* But I love the color!! Woot for color!!!
Yep! Definitely love the coloring.
And “oops” on the wings! :-/ Glad you clarified that, I would’ve been a bit shocked … LOL
Selkie. . . aren’t they like. . . seal people? They come up to have babies then take them back to the water when they get about the proper age. . . ooo is that why shes a “fish face” and has webbed fingers? I always wanted webbs as a kid^_^ I’m totally diggin your comic so far, especially this last page, the whole fading into each other, very foreshadowy
I’m thinking Selkie is just her name, not what she is. She looks amphibious, like a mermaid (not the Disney-style kind).
Speaking as an adopted I can relate to this comic, especially this one. We’re not wierd or deranged, we just see life in a different light..Selke has her issues, but I see her being the best in the bunch. While I admit to not being a fan of single parent adopters, especially other gender children, I look forward to seeing where this goes. Todd will make a good parent.
I commend you for being someone who produces, rather than just consumes. Your artwork has improved and the color helps.
So far you seem to have clever idea. I’m interested to see where you take it.
Thank you. I love that you said that, because trying to become more of a creator than a consumer is one of the reasons I started the comic. 😀
I think this is your best strip thus far. The storyline is great, but the depth you subtly put into it is amazing. Brava!
