Hey, at least she’s being open (if not overt) about it. Yeah, it’s a touchy subject & still really sore, but getting it resolved & not skirting the issue is major improvement over how things once were.
and just like that, the warm fuzzy feelings were replaced by a punch to the gut….btw, love the fan art! the second is obviously ‘dancing queen selkie’, and the first one is the ‘evil genius selkie’ from way back that *awesome* library scene, right? i remember that laugh, i was cackling and rubbing my hands right alongside her when trunchypoo jr. finally got what he deserved.
I grew up on the Raffi version, and internalized it before I got the concept of a “cover song.” Never went back through my brain to consider which things I associated with specific artists might in fact be associated first with different artists.
Then at some point I spotted — somewhere — a Beatles song titled “Octopus’s Garden.” At that point, surely I had heard at least a couple Beatles songs in my life, but I didn’t really have a grasp of the kind of band they were. I knew only that they were “insanely popular,” which made me associate them with the modern “insanely popular” groups: shallow-lyric’d boy bands.
So I said to the friend who was there at the time, “Hey, I wonder if that’s the same song Raffi sings.”
And he said (I forget the exact phrasing), “You know two songs named Octopus’s Garden and think they might be different songs?”
And that is how I started learning that the Beatles were a LITTLE more unusual than I had expected.
So this is how you’re leaving us on the new year, huh?
Eh, I forgive you.
Also, this visit went WAY better than I expected. And it wasn’t just delaying the inevitable — it actually dealt with major plot points in a sensitive (and sometimes funny) way. Good choice.
Ooof.
And just like that, those bad memories and feelings return. It looks like they managed to put all that aside, at least for a little while.
Well it’ll take a while and bad things are solved by facing them, not hiding from them.
That urn would be a good place to hide your stash in. No one is gonna mess with a urn.
I doubt burglars are so considerate.
Well. Hopefully this’ll be taken care of easily…probably won’t be but who knows.

Agreed. I like that she’s being honest about it. And I love the fact that Todd and her were getting along, as well.
The transcript commentary on this one is just downright evil
…
I love this comic so much

What music does Selkie listen to? (Besides ballads of pirate murder)
Mostly pop-y stuff. She liked that pirate song for the lyrics more than the music.
I don’t know why, I can totally picture her humming Octopus’s Garden…

I really like that second fanart. It really captures the way Selkie moves. A nice sense of action from only a few lines.
