LOL if her career as doctor terrorhammer doesn´t work out, she can still become a drama queen!
too bad the drama will become all too real once todd gets a glimpse of that news report still running on tv…..btw, does andi already know about selkie not being exactly human? because if not, that could open a whole other can of worms – ‘i don´t want amanda around a fish with poisonous saliva and creepy fire eyes’
I have no idea how much Andi knows, but I’m pretty sure she’s only been told (by Todd, at least) the ‘genetic condition’ story everyone else knows. I can’t remember if the grandparents even know what’s going on with her.
Due to all the bureaucratic crap going on, and since her own father is being kept so much in the dark, I highly doubt that someone who barely interacts with her would be privy to even part of the facts.
On the other hand, Amanda has already displayed that she’s figured out that Selkie’s not human, and has probably said at least *something* to Andi. She’s lived with Selkie at the orphanage for years, and knew enough about her to comment about her ‘being a fish’ to Miss Flower, when she was confused about her ‘goldfish stuff’ being medicine. Factoring in meeting Brown’s family for dinner, plus her hearing about Selkie and Todd going to ‘a village of people like me’ in a lake… Yeah, Amanda knows a lot of stuff about Selkie. But given the fact that most adults would write off a lot of this stuff as a kid’s ‘overactive imagination’, again, I have absolutely no idea how much Andi actually knows.
Todd’s parents know about what’s going on with Selkie. I think the explanations took place between the panels, but they act like they’re aware of at least some of the classified info. They are definitely aware that Selkie’s not a human.
At a guess, I think Andi’s been told a bit more about Selkie. Andi and Selkie are going to be around each other a lot, and Todd may have bent the Need To Know aspects of what he’s “allowed” to share.
Michael’s interpretation worked well for me, too. As long as they avoid Prague Selkie should be fine. The sofa having sufficient padding to arrest any injury. Here we have her father, and sister, but who is missing? Who, indeed, but the Drama Llama’s Momma.
So hey, our Extra Life fundraiser this year has already earned a little over $80 for Seattle Children’s Hospital, and I just passed 120,000 published words on AO3 and 10,000 words for NaNoWriMo so far (some overlap there).
I’m feeling pretty pumped, and I just wanted to celebrate a bit here; I know I’m not as active in this forum as I used to be (busy busy), but I still feel quite close to it.
In other news: I do love dropping by here to find uncolored comics now and then. Gives me something to study, as an artist ^_^
Sum total by the end of the week: $180.29 — add the $127.78 from last year, and we’ve raised over $300 in just two years ^_^
Feels good to help kids (and their families) when they really need it. And to get the kids (my nephews and niece) involved while they’re still young, in a charity activity they can really participate in.
now taking wagers: Will Amanda think the glowing eyes are cool in a ‘my sister can do that’ way, Be offended that selkie has a new weird ‘alien’ power, or just “well, if I was one of whatever you are, i’d have glowing eyes sooner so nyeh!”?
I don’t think I am 100% okay with Andi joining in with the ‘dial it back’. She isn’t Selkies parent/sister/grandparent, and as such it isn’t her place to say even if she is joining in with the others. Not that it is a massive thing or anything, just irritates me a bit.
I love selkie in the scene though, so full of life and charisma!
It’s not like she’s dishing out punishments, just calling her out on being obnoxious. Not the same thing but I previously asked completely strange kids to behave or quieten down too.
I personally view it differently. I feel like for her to feel comfortable doing that she must be around Selkie enough to know she won’t be reprimanded. I feel like she’s been welcoming to Selkie over time too, as evidenced by the crazy hair over Christmas and her coming over now. I feel like it’s a good thing myself
I just love the whole (pesudo) family’s reaction. “Dial it back.” 🙂 They all know her love to dramatize. I can see Selkie as an actress if conquer the world doesn’t pan out.
“I will now perform an interpretive dance based on my recent harrowing experiences”
I would enjoy that.
Well, if I recall, interpretive dance IS the official government-business language of Night Vale….
Willie would demand the Glow Cloud hail HER! It would get ugly from there.
That was supposed to be SILKIE! Stupid auto-correct!
I can see Selkie and Tamika Flynn getting along.

Yea I’m with the trio on this.
And I asume colors will make it more clear but to me it looks like Selkie just defenestrated herself.
Heh. She just flopped over the back of the couch.
It’s more fun your way, Mikael ^_^

I’m ok with this. 😀

And seeing the transcript makes me want to see a new Anna Dewdney book “Llama Llama King of Drama”
Maybe she could make a diorama of the drama?
Film that Drama diorama in Cinerama!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinerama
No one in the family has been the same since, you know, the llama incident.
The last three spam protection questions have been different numbers, but always the same total… odd.
Selkie is so adorable and precious

I thought that the mighty beast fell upon her dad.
Well, she did punch the mighty beast so…
XD And the silly actress continues to be silly. At least she’s having fun with it. :3

There is shouting in her living room.
I wouldn’t call her unreasonable if she did much more than say ‘cool it’.
You also don’t disrespect Amanda’s mother in front of Amanda because it’s important Amanda respects her.
I personally view it differently. I feel like for her to feel comfortable doing that she must be around Selkie enough to know she won’t be reprimanded. It would be a better display, if she doesn’t smile through it. :3
Typo alert: “…ats its passings” should not have an apostrophe.

I really like Andi’s ladybug hair 🙂
She’s wearing those glasses cause she can’t turn her fire eyes off.
