I *LOVE* the crossover reference to Sue & Kathryn! <3
I'm gonna go with Antoine's punch being mostly unintentionally that hard. The look on his face in panel three (when he looks at Andi watching Amanda and Todd) looks more concerned than anything else.
Maybe he wanted to give her a slightly harder punch than normal, but he really IS used to linebackers?
I think Antoine is one of those people that it is impossible for them to hold a grudge, stay upset or even get angry over anything. Laid back and chill.
If you *do* manage to get them upset, then you done screwed up major past the point of no return.
And I think there has been references to Antoine’s line backer past. Plus, he’s a big guy, and he is a sibling of Tod and I forgot the sister’s name…They play hard and fast with each other it seems.
Guys that large usually learn to be very patient and gentle if they don’t want to be an ogre. When you are significantly bigger than someone you don’t have to do anything and it can be intimidating.
I actually kinda like the uncolored backgrounds. They pull focus to where it’s supposed to be. You might consider doing them on purpose here or there, for effect and to avoid too much busy crowding out the action.
Desaturation would be fine. And I think the “beige is not an interesting color to watch” is not an issue, but a possible design choice to, again, push attention away from what is not the focus right now.
Or at least slightly desaturate the backgrounds. (That’s one of the clues we use as humans to distinguish foreground from background: the further away something is, the less saturated the colors.)

Given how Todd grimaced after the “Uncle Annie” punch in #821, I’d say Antoine isn’t used to pulling his punches.

Also for easier, faster art sometimes. Your call.
I think the issue here is that everything is beige, and beige is not an interesting color to watch
maybe green but that’s not a creative color

“This cartoon sounds WEIRD.”
Oh, you have no idea. XD
That might be a bit of a bruise. XD Antoine is a geek.
Does he punch his fiancé that hard??
Maybe? His fiance might be a bit more sturdy or just used to them like Todd is. XD
Antoine does not have a fiance. Marta has a fiance. They have announced intention to get married.
Antoine has a boyfriend. They are dating, maybe living together, but there has been no mention of marriage.
Richard, Richard, Richard. When you are talking to a blue skinned carnivorous mermaid you have to redefine your perception of “weird.”
Crap, I had forgotten about this comic. Thanks for reminding me, no I can do an archive run and catch up from where I stopped.
Hmm, posted in the wrong, spot, this is supposed to be a response to Tarnagh
Wait, her show’s a comic now!? Why didn’t I know this sooner!?
Yeah, in Selkie canon Sue and Katherine is a children’s cartoon. And probably popular with gothy kids.

Enjoy! 🙂
Oh dear, another one to catch up on and then add to my daily comics…
