Initially I wanted Richard to recite a piece of Dunmeri poetry related to conquest or victory, but I couldn't find anything on https://www.imperial-library.info/ that felt like it would fit on panel. Back-up plan was a recitation along the lines of, "Thank you Mother, Lord, Wizard, and Four Corners, for these blessings." Buuut it kind of felt a bit weird to have him say a whole litany, like it implied he literally believed in it. So I settled for a simple name-drop reference.

Mari and Theo are loosely based on my own maternal grandparents, and many of the gifts I've gotten from them over the years have been practical things I didn't ask for, but appreciated very much once I'd put them in action. One of them is the space heater that's been keeping my room toasty in winter for ten years now.

I re-wrote panel 5 a bit. It was originally written to be Todd clasping Amanda on the shoulders comfortingly, but after some discussion on the last strip that Todd doesn't appear to feel very affectionate towards Amanda, I re-wrote it to be a hug instead.
