Hey, you still posted something, *and* you let us know what’s going on. That’s still way better than a lot of folks who just disappear without a word. Besides weren’t you just feeling ill not that long ago? It *is* OK to take extra time to fully recover.
A possible suggestion: Ask for guest comics. When you get three of them (which shouldn’t take long at all, given your audience) run them. This isn’t a vacation, though: draw the comic like you normally do but use them as a buffer. That way you always have a week to fix problems or complete the coloring.
Yeah, if you need a break to build a buffer, take a break! There’s ways to do this without breaking a regular update schedule, and there’s also your right as a creator to say “Hey, guys, I need a week to get my stuff together, see you a week from Monday.”
Having a happy, lower-stress creator beats having regular updates from an unhappy, higher-stress creator.
(…I say, as a person refusing to back down from my six-days-a-week YouTube schedule even though my videos have largely devolved to small clips of dubious funny AND I’ve taken on regular fanfic writing again too. But I’m gonna run out of steam at some point, and I’m hoping it’ll result in a small and reasonable change to my channel, not an abandonment of the whole idea of being able to meet a schedule.)
(Also, I’m getting SOME higher-quality vids up, like my “A Fugitive in Stardew Valley” series. It just takes hours and I can’t provide that level of quality more than once every couple of weeks. I envy those who can.)
Go ahead, Fang. You laugh now, but just wait until one day the ice cream store’s out of sundaes on a slow afternoon and next thing you know North and South Dakota have unified, seceded and are now known as the Grand Nation of Selkietopia…
He might still be using English, as I’m pretty sure his first comment was intended for her as well (since she & Todd only just started away from the group, and sound traveling quite well under water). Kind of a way to say it without putting her on the spot/possibly making it awkward (and the heightened believeabiluty of it being something said among the adults, so it obviously (child reasoning) wasn’t being said for their benefit)
Or he just didn’t flip the switch to change languages, who knows?
Dave, if you’re struggling to keep up, then take a break. Your fans will understand; just let us know yours doing so. Honestly, you’ve got an amazing story and comic, we’ll be waiting for you when you’re ready to resume! <3 <3 <3
Pohl is a treasure and I will always adore his comments and point of view xD
Ha ha Dave. Starting a bit later than usual is starting to be your usual.
J/K… mostly. 😉
I know. I don’t know why but I’m having more and more trouble focusing on getting the work done lately.
Need to take a break? I mean, sometimes it happens.

If that ever happens, Fang and Pohl will be right beside her, laughing and being snarky the whole time.
I dunno, Selkie, what do your u want to do tonight?
Same thing we do every night, Todd, try to take over the world!
Pohl is a hoot. I love his perspective.
Exceptionally wise of Todd not to leave her there without him.
he knows his daughter well 😉
Not so much as what mischief she might get into but what if they tried to kidnap her.
Ya know, I think I’d just about s$!t mysely if Scar turned out to be Selkie’s biological father!!!
Interesting that Scar’s voice-thing doesn’t develop angle-brackets even when talking to his own folks. Is it perhaps a *telepathy* kind of thing?

Fair warning though, if Dave takes a break I’ll be demanding a refund. /jk
We’ll give you a triple refund: $0.00 x 3 = $0.00
Enjoy your ill-gotten gains!
X3 Aww. That’s sweet and funny.
