Well Todd she wouldn’t have a chance to read it if you hadn’t left it out. Kids are very curious and get into everything. Also reading something like a diary or viewing her personal videos isn’t the same. That’s personal information.
You left out a folder containing things about her that are government information and should’ve been placed somewhere that she couldn’t access it in the first place. So. Not the same. XD
Yes – he left out a folder clearly marked Secret and was addressed to him. How careless in his whole – 6 months (?) of being a father ever of thinking he had privacy.
FYI Dave – I *love* that Selkie feels like a real kid who gets into the type of trouble that a kid her age would do. She’s not a brat and she’s not super-good.
Yet somehow he couldn’t just put it up high or heck make sure that Selkie couldn’t get her curious little hands on it because kids are curious about everything in the friggin’ world? Like dude. That’s what kids are. So yes. He does need to be less careless when he leaves things out. Even if it’s marked secret,kids can be nosy.

You are right. I am sorry, I didn’t mean that to be taken as something harsh against your thought process (especially, because you always do make me think about some of the subtler things in the story a different way than I normally would!)
All I meant was that Todd wouldn’t know yet how sneaky (or blatant) kids can be. Yet being the operative word.
It’s not as if he’s making a huge deal out of it, he points out she shouldn’t have done that and demonstrates with an example she can relate to, that’s it, she’s not even getting punished or anything.
