Well, that’s because this is a happy-go-lucky comic after all.
But in real life, sharing a secret about a secret tech item somebody made to keep you safe to someone of your own race, when your race is in a civil war and your particular ethnicity has been all extinguished but for you?
Well, there’s a reason your ethnicity has been extinguished: they didn’t do it with flowers and kisses. I’d be VERY mindful of my own species.
Rationally, that’s the way to go. Psychologically? I’d frankly do the same as Selkie: the first people like me I’d meet, I’d have this urge to tell them everything, because I NEED them to be friends, after being alone for so much time.
Plus, Selkie doesn’t know about the civil war (I think), so there’s that.
Good points! I think this is the time she may have to end up learning about the Civil War, because they would not want her to immediately tell other Sarnothi secrets or even reveal herself to them.
Turn about: Sarnothi with a secret secret is surprised by Secret Sarnothi with a Super secret: I could tell you, but Dave said it was a secret.
Isn’t Selkie like Royal Family or something?
not exactly Royal Family. She’s the last known survivor of her caste of Sarnothi. They were the ones who called for restraint after one of their number was caught and fileted by fishermen. Another caste wanted to go to wa with humans. So, Selkie’s caste, who were the victims of the original atrocity, found themselves on the side of arguing against vengeance, on the side of reason.
This angered the other caste(s) so much that Selkie’s caste soon found themselves reviled for “siding with the hated humans”, when all they were really doing was trying to prevent the whole race from being massacred.
Selkie’s Clan, the Jin’Sorai, were the ones calling for open aggression and retaliation in response to the loss of a sarnothi life. It was the Sar’Teri, who hld majority population of Sarnoth and who the slain sarnothi belonged too, who called for the more moderate peace-keeping response.
But you are right about Selkie’s Clan being the ones that fell under attack. The Sar’Teri who, when faced with open insurrection and the possibility of declarations of hostility against America, opened fire on their own people, which cost the lives of many Jin’Sorai.
Not all of them. Selkie is not the last. But there’s very few left, and all of them evacuated Sarnoth for other territories. More on that later, though.
NOOOOOOOOOO cut aways are mean!
Bahahah! You have an evil mind!
It’s a SECRET. So you can’t TELL ANYONE, because it’s a SECRET.
No worries. I can keep a SECRET. Let me tell you about THIS SECRET I’m keeping.
Hmmmmm. Yeah, Selkie can keep a secret. :O
Apparently so can Sai Fen. :3
Well she is her species and Sai Fen is a friend. So sharing this isn’t horrible or going to hurt her. :/

It’s a secret to everybody!
It´s so secret that you need a level of security clearance you didn´t even know existed just to learn that you aren´t authorized to know this secret.
I so wish I had a That’s Racist! kid gif only with the caption “That’s Secret!” at the bottom.

Now they are all but extinct.
Good memory! Except you’ve got the stances reversed.

Selkie, don’t! Adults don’t keep ANY secret children tell them!
Home secrets shouldn’t be kept, adults usually know best.
There’s a world of difference between ‘some’ and ‘none’.
Glad she calls it tech.
But now the answer’s clear, right? 😉 So we can use the right word now that Dave’s declared it so.
It took me days and several reviewings to recognise that as Selkie’s hair bow and remember the significance.
