-EDIT 4/2/2020- I removed the April Fools Day version from the front view because it’s an absolute eyesore. XD Leaving it here for posterity.
Today's edition of the Secret Commentary is empty, because Dave failed to come up with something for it.
I was about to comment that your software must have glitched out again. Then I realized.
Well played, sir. 🙂
Man, the girls are really being…

Negative.
YEEEEAAAAH!
Nice!
Hi, Dave. I have a few questions (that you may’ve answered previously).
Will the girls ever learn self defense, for centering, control, and inner peace? And, you know, self defense, in case either one keeps getting into scraps.
Which had me also thinking, is there a specific Sarnothi martial art?
Also, given that they’ve evolved to fluidly move underwater, aren’t Sarnothi inherently several times stronger than humans?
Unless the Sarnothi have historically spent a lot of time out of the water over the past few centuries, which doesn’t seem to be the case, I would assume their martial arts would be heavily focused on underwater combat, which for the most part I would assume translates very poorly to land.
Regarding moving underwater: Why would that make them any stronger than humans? It’s not like whales, fish, or crocodiles are any “stronger” than similar-sized land vertibrates. Moving underwater requires the correct shape, not more muscle.
Biologically speaking, if we are dealing with anything remotely like real-earth biology here, fast moving muscle in vertribrates has a pretty consistent amount of strength per cross-section. There are exceptions, but mostly those exchange force for speed, so are very slow.
Since Sarrnothi are nearly the same size and shape as a human, with roughly similar amounts of bone and organ, it would stand to reason they’d be similar in strength to a human with the same build.
Aquaman is supposedly stronger that humans because altheans evolved in a high pressure environment, no idea how scientific that is though. 😀
The Sarnothi evolved at the bottom of a lake, not at the ocean floor. The depth & pressure difference is vast.
I’m actually siding with Amanda, this really is opposite day.
I’m not, because to me it’s an extension of the constant bullying/nitpicking at Selkie. When the background is constant fish insults, mocking facial features like ear holes until Selkie hides them, etc, then it isn’t just about humming. And I think Selkie’s retort about it being important to her kinda channels that.
I too would get annoyed by it after a while. My brother used to whistle all the time and that drove me nuts.
I kinda side with Amanda, because I would also go insane if someone just kept humming constantly while I’m trying to read a book, play a game, watch TV, ect. But she’s also being extremely rude about it, at least she was in the previous page, you don’t need to insult someone to get your point across. I just know Grandpa Theo should probably be taking them both out of the room before someone gets hurt.

I also like Z̡̢͉͓̗̠̝̊̓̀͑̎̚ä̻̪̠͓̗̼̘̪̣́̓̅̆̚͠ḽ̵̳̯̩̇̔͗̔̉͌͟g̩̥̼̭̬̬͖̞̋͐̃̄̌̎̓͘ǫ̢̜͍̫̭̀́̅̆̾̎̄͂̅͜͝ text, in limited quantities.
I’ll be using both of these in an upcoming chapter of one of my fanfics, to give the feel of the mind-bending effects of the branches of Yggdrasil on a mortal brain ^_^
“too me” should be “to me”. fwiw.
Since there seems to be no precedent for humans being resonance-sensitive, I’m going to assume she really is referring to Selkie humming as she practices.
Seems like an obvious fix would be “go to another room, and put on some headphones and listen to music until she’s done”. (Though, based on my own experience with bullying, a more likely response would be for Amanda to make fun of Selkie by parodying the humming, until an adult stops her.)
Or there is a massive explosion and Todd has to find a new building to live in.
Amanda this problem is easily fixed by you listening to music. You don’t need to be a brat about this. -__-
Like I get that it can get on your nerves. But she’s doing something IMPORTANT. And you know it’s important. It will not hurt you to find other means to block it out if it bothers you that much.
A little bit sad that this years April Fools wasn’t another Sophie strip.
