The little woodcutter’s girl and the Three Bears joined forces against Big Bad Evil.

Got another fanart to share! DSHigsby made a real life version of Sai Fen’s Maiden and the Eel statue:
Thank you so much for making this! I tried to send a thank-you email with the answers to the questions you asked me, but it got bounced back. Is there another email address we could try?
The theme song of Goldilocks: Bear Rider is two minutes of speed metal layered with real bear growls.
Has Andi filled in the blank fathers name in the birth certificate? Is there legal protection for Todd? I’m getting worried about her reaction to the news… tea is too soothing something bad is coming…
SISTERS SISTERS SISTERS
god I’m so happy about Amanda and Selkie settling into a sibling routine god fucking bless
Wow, that looks amazingly like hi-fire ceramics! Like cone 6 or higher. Tell me you didnt use hi-fire Clay for that. And the glaze job really adds to the drama, the luster looking like it really is wet eel skin. Amazing job!
-embarrass- oh god!
Well first she’s stonewares clay is vegas buff smooth and her glaze is a cone 010 fire. I did her in an electric kiln to see how the glaze would react. The glaze was made by a classmate and friend it cant give out the recipe but the name she called the dark blue/ green is called “lockjaw” and the light cream color one is called “red dreams”
First reaction – I totally want to see Goldilocks: Bear Rider
Next reaction – Wait, it wasn’t enough that she broke into their house and destroyed their stuff, now she has to ENSLAVE the bears?!?
Naah, I see it more like an Avengers team-up.
“A bear can run faster than a little girl. Climb up, we’ll run like the wind.”
Gotta get some bitchin’ armor on the bears too!
Bear Cavalry, the beginnings
Amazing sculpture, DSHigsby.
And yeah, that is definitely a show that could help bond the sisters. Though if they realize that, they’ll probably start fighting out of sheer reflex…
^_^ Thanks!!
AAW DUDE, THAT SCULPTURE IS SO COOL
-slaps forehead and laughs- I really did not see anyone getting all jazzed over this. I mean she was my second attempt, and I still feel I could do better
I want to see this cartoon. I’m imagining it starts with Goldilocks all downtrodden and hauling ass to this house in the woods to escape the Bad Guys, hiding until the Bears get home after ransacking the place for food, and then the group of them hash out how to be badass together and help her save herself from whatever.
I thought Amanda liked sour?
I guess bitter is different
Bitter and sour are very different.
When I had been drinking alcohol for a few months (having started in my very late 20’s, and taking it slow and thoughtful), I expressed to my friends that I didn’t like beer (having tried one that my brother had in the fridge). They immediately planned a beer night to introduce me to the wide variety of beers at a place called Brouwer’s.
Turns out I hate malty, for one. It feels greasy and thick. And hoppy is just yuck.
They gave me sips of beers all night long, trying to figure it out or at least narrow it down. At the end of the night, they found one beer that I thought I could actually drink a glass of: My friend had asked if they had any sour beer, and they brought him a Geuze. I sipped it and then got one for myself, and that’s the only beer I actually sorta enjoyed (the rest, I’d sip and then someone else would drink it).
Then one friend asked, “Wait. Do you like coffee?” No. “Do you like bitter things?” No. “Do you like sour things?” Yes. “We could’ve avoided this whole night.”
I’m glad we didn’t, as it was memorable, introduced me to a Croque Monsieur (delicious!), a framboise (nice), the wide variety of appetizers that cafe sells, and gave me a positive view of my friends trying to help me find things to enjoy. We even got pierogies (or dumplings of some sort?) afterwards.
Anyway, yeah, bitter and sour are two different creatures, for sure.
I had a similar “intro to beers” kind of awakening a couple of years ago. I literally just asked the waiter “do you have any ‘beginner beers’?” He brought me something fairly pale (I want to say it was a Hefeweizen) and to my surprise I actually liked it.
I can’t handle hoppy beers, though. IPAs are my Kryptonite.
My favorite beers overall are the dark, sweet, strong ones: think doppelbocks, imperial stouts, barleywines, etc.
Lambic beers are amazing. The place up the street from me (an amazing German restaurant and beer bar) almost always has St. Louis Framboise on tap, and it’s one of my favorites. If I didn’t know better, I’d swear it was actually raspberry wine, not beer.
In before Goldilocks: Bear rider gets a crossover with The Adventures of Sue and Kathryn.
That sculpture is awesome!
(#^-^#) Thanks!
I’ve been reading too much Tumblr lately, my brain went into NC17 territory with “Goldilocks: Bear Rider…”
“But the third bed was juuuust right…”
DSHigsby, that sculpture is great!!!
(*^-^*) My god so many like her thanks!
Tea with honey is sweet so it might not be to her tastes, but out of curiosity, how are Sarnothi with honey?
Honey is made by bees after collecting nectar from flowers, so is it animal or plant based? (by Selkie logic)
Although, somehow, I can imagine Selkie having a cup of honey tea regardless of whether she likes it or not on the basis of: Amanda is drinking it–And Selkie can’t stand to be outdone by her rival/sister!
Honey isn’t really either. Unpasteurized honey can have both animal (bee parts) and plant (pollen) in it. But pasteurized all it is, is a sugar that doesn’t break down as easy as the more refined simple sugars (like corn syrup or plain table sugar). I was a beekeeper, and I have never heard of any kind of allergic reaction to honey beyond from pollen in unpasteurized honey (which many people eat on purpose so to help build resistance) or not feeding it to infants because it can cause them to choke.
Is choking the reason? I understood that there was something about honey that could harm an infant, but not that it was a choking problem. Like that their immunities weren’t up to whatever was in the honey, or the like.
Honey may have spores of the botulism bacteria. Anyone over 1 yr old will destroy the bacteria before any significant amount of toxin has been produced. Those younger might have enough toxin produced to cause problems before all the bacteria have been killed. The actual risk is quite small but wait for their first birthday before giving honey to kids just to be on the safe side.

fun fact honey can keep for centuries. they have pulled pots of honey out of tombs that are still edible. Honey is a natural bacteria killer. old school wound healing is cover cut with honey.

To Dave, I’m sorry if my email hasn’t been the most solid but if you need to reach me I have a gmail account, [REDACTED BY DAVE FOR SAFETY FROM BOTS]. Hope to hear from you soon.
I just happened to be sitting here when the comment came in, got the email! I am going to redact it from your comment to avoid it getting picked up by trawler bots, but I’ll be sending you a reply shortly!
DSHigsby, all I can say is WOW. The eel looks so alive!
