for the record I’d be more shocked by black sclera than glowing eyes (they BARELY glow afterall)
In the art style the comic is drawn, yes one is more noticable than the other. But IRL, eyes are mostly in some amount of shadow from eyelashes, and you don’t really notice color when you aren’t looking for it (at least I don’t).

yeah, but she knows damn well that selkie’s not H. sapiens, and Todd knows she knows.
I still think the Zebra Rule still applies. if you hear hoofbeats, assume horse until you turn around, even if you know that Zebra is a possibility.
Abuse is one of those things that gets sort of brought out too often, and false-positived… see my mother in the hospital waiting room when I was two, still healing stitches on my stomach, and two black eyes from jumping on the bed… poorly…
