Third in what may become a series of Sketch Days featuring Selkie cast members dressed as League of Legends champions. This is Keisha dressed as Ezreal. Another one next week. 🙂
I knew I wanted to do Keisha for the next LoL sketch, but wasn't sure which champion fit her. Then it hit me that with the way she likes climbing trees and learning about animals, she suggests an inquisitive personality that felt like a good fit with Ezreal, who is an archeologist and explorer character.
Heather is usually on the attacking end of Conquer the Castle, so Selkie may have a fair shot.
In the first draft of this sequence, Heather and Selkie were playing a co-op video game together. I changed it to an outdoor activity because it felt like I was forcing my own interests on Heather and Selkie. Heather doesn't strike me as the kind of kid who likes video games much.

There's something indefinable about Barb's head shot in panel 3 I really like.
Early on in plotting things out, as far back as when I introduced the Fairweathers even, I considered the possibility of having Barb turn out to be Todd's biological sister. I discarded this idea a long while ago for a variety of reasons, the big one being a bit of a tipping-point on the coincidence/believability meter. In fact, I decided to use this tidbit for the Commentary just to get the idea out of my head and make it stop trying to convince me to use it. XD
I decided this arc was a good time to revisit something from past strips that I’ve been meaning to use again for a long long while. Everyone, I am pleased to introduce… the return of the Dinosaur Dress. :3
Selkie final word balloon almost said "Because I's hungry", but something felt wrong about Selkie wanting to eat a pony.
