Saw some feedback on the abrupt transition from the last arc to this one and… yeah. Yeah, kinda. Won’t lie to you folks, I was struggling a bit to find a way to wrap it up without dragging the point out more than I already had been. Gonna try to patch the resolution up a bit in the next strip or two with some worked-in “it happened off camera” style dialogue. We’ll see.

A couple of random thoughts.
Spawning is when the egg is laid, not when it hatches. Todd’s spawnaversary would be 9 months before his birthday.
And then referring to it as spawning in front of Amanda seems like a real good way to bring back Amanda calling her a fish. Remember when they first saw Pohl’s baby, they agreed that Amanda must never know about that.
I think it’s way more likely she’s using the videogame definition of “spawn”.
NGL, Spawn! was the first thought through my poor coffee deprived brain. Logo and all. Hatchie Birthday works best for me. O.O
In more general terms, it is to “produce offspring”, so for internally fertilized creatures like mammals, spawning would still be coincident with birth, not gestation. The offspring must become a separate entity to be spawned.
Well, maybe Sarnothi do count their birthday from laying day.
Also, owning a childish insult is a great way of reducing it’s power.
