TODD: So, did you know Miss Flower ives in Amanda's building?
SELKIE: Yeah, she's mentioned it.
SELKIE: I thinks it's part of her big secret plan!
TODD: Oh? Miss Flower has a plan, huh?
SELKIE: Yeahs. Super secret. All teachers do it.
SELKIE: I think Miss Flower is trying to give Amanda... DOUBLE HOMEWORK.
TODD: And you haven't told Amanda this? You monster.
SELKIE: Somestimes, you have to do tough love.

Either Selkie has watched too many cartoons that treats teachers like great and terrible evils upon the freedom of children, or I have.
I like the reduction in Selkie’s plurals as she practices.
DOUBLE homework!?!?
The horror! The cruelty!
Double homework… hah, Selkie is thinking to simply… the truth is TRIPLE HOMEWORK AND A POP QUIZ!
Now that’s the Selkie we all love and fear!
Selkie’s doing REALLY well with her speech lessons.
She’s getting a lot better with the pluralization
The double homework panel is brilliant.
Oh yes, because Teaching Assistants make so much money they can afford to chase their students around by renting units near them. 0_o
Its part of the big secret! shhhhhhhhhhhhh
Indeed, Selkie’s reductions of pluralses is coming along swimmingly! 🙂
Homework is bullcrap in my opinion. By middle school if I wasn’t gonna be given time to do it in class, I didn’t do it. I don’t take work home with me either.
I had several teachers who spent the entire time yammering on without giving us any time to do the work in class. All the lazy 5eachers who just had us do chapter reviews, I’d just do them all and hand them in, not only did I not have homework, because I had to read the book and answer the questions, I didn’t have to study for tests either.
Any work I did that wasn’t assigned was treated as extra credit.
I didn’t have any classes where that would work. If you didn’t do the assignment, when it was assigned and how it was assigned, it didn’t count. It wasn’t about learning, it was about performing to specs.
I think Selkie is a lot like me with my impediment. If I have a chance to rehearse instead of coming up with stuff off-the-cuff my speach is fluid and also quick. If I’m making it up as I go, my aphasia kicks in and I’m forever trying to find a word.
Once in a while I get a certain type of headache, and some of the words start hiding themselves from my mouth. I know just what I want to say, but while the sentence starts coming out of my mouth – some of the words run away and just hide. The idea was complete, all I had to do was say it.
Then mid-sentence, it’s like I’m in an empty dungeon, and its big and echoing, and there’s nothing there, no words, …
and then I’m eaten by a grue. Is that what it’s like?
Poor Selkie, she doesn’t realize the terrible truth about Ms. Flowers…that since Selkie was the first student in the building it is ACTUALLY SELKIE she is trying to give double homework to! Selkie, you poor fool!
I don’t believe Andi and Todd live in the same building. IIRC, Ms. Flowers lived there before she became a teaching assistant. She needed the extrw money to support her then-girlfriend’s shie addiction. Her employee discount was insufficient.
That was long before Andi approached the orphanage about regaining custody of Amanda.
Shoe not shie.
But don’t you SEE?!? this just makes it all the more EVIL! Ms Flowers is hiding out in Selkie’s SISTERS building, just to throw her off the scent. She moved in years ago and has been waiting, She knows the whole thing because she was plotting with the orphanage. So she could give them BOTH double homework, and make each think the OTHER was to blame!
Bwahhh Hahhh Haah!!!
