Filler is the best word I have for it. Dave sometimes does weird little side things that don’t necessarily add anything exactly meaningful to the story overall, but allows him to be more creative.
That’s a fair description, to be honest. I just thought it’d be a fun diversion to have Selkie doing some speech practice this way, instead of sitting in a circle on the floor with a book for four months.
Ooooh, the Dragon Riders of Pern X Escape to Witch Mountain… or Bedknobs and Broomsticks X How to train yer Dragon.
I would read the heck out of either of those!
Ditto!
one part Neverending Story and one part Kiki’s delivery service 🙂
Thank you I wasn’t sure
And another part Dragonriders of Pern.
The young dragon rider get her first set of riding leathers, made out of, ……………wait, ………..PANTS! Mwahahaha!
YUS!
Maybe one part Ojamajo Doremi.
Oh boy. Am I sensing filler?
????did you mean filler? Or side story?

Call it world building. A little something to make the world more alive than the narrow events of the focus characters.
Paul the Sky Dragon! Wow, that is not a character I was expecting to ever see again!
You want a story about witches?
