Wow, Amanda’s seeming actually cooperative and remorseful. Maybe a good home environment and getting used to daily life is really helping? Selkie also seems like she’s going lighter on the rage — even if she was serious about punishing her by not bringing a souvenir, she seemed at least a bit humorous in the delivery.
Not the point, of course… but I am idly wondering what Todd’s eating? Did he order something vegetarian, or did he make the conscious decision to let that go for this one meal?
I thought I was the only person who said “bread rolls”! Usually when I say that, I get weird looks, like.. “of course a BREAD roll, as if there were any other types of rolls?”
…I live in Texas… generally “rolls” are considered to be just basic table-bread that you would have alongside a meal, maybe with butter on it. I am fully aware that other types of rolls with fillings exist, but I’m a bit more cultured than my local peers, so I tend to specify with “bread roll”. And if you were to just say “bread”, you would get a slice of sandwich bread.
Ah, you reminded me of an issue I had with some coworkers once about the term “bread cake”. My family has a tradition of taking the leftover breadcrumbs from frying chicken or the like, adding egg, and frying it up. Apparently, this is unheard of in some places. <_<
Rolls that sit on a plate are Dinner Rolls. Yes, even if it's breakfast time. ;).
Hmmmm! Apology after Selkie gets included in the chiding… I dunno if Amanda realizes it, but there may be some amount of realization that they’re both getting quashed — very little “playing favorites” there. Probably subconsciously reassuring.
Nicely handled, Todd. Wasn’t expecting Amanda’s apology, very happy to see it…
Yea I think its a first? Good going there.
I wonder if Selkie is really intending to bring her back something or just teasing.
She’ll bring back a bag of treats to share…. fish eyeballs.
Agreed, much better.

I think bringing a present would be a reward rather than not bringing one a punishment.
IIRC, in psychology the absence of an expected reward is a negative punishment.
It is still a power play along the lines of ‘do as I say, or (blank).’
the transcript was exactly what I expected would happen if Selkie forgot about the present

If Todd’s been a vegetarian for years, he can’t just let things go, his system might kick back any meat.
A bread roll.

Egg rolls, spring rolls, cinnamon rolls, etc.
Whoops, forgot the latter-half of the post:
“Just some words you can spring upon your peers to put some egg on their faces.
” . . . sorry, can’t think of a way to incorporate ‘cinnamon’ for a double-meaning here.”

Yep. Dinner Rolls. As I grew up I heard of Parker House Rolls. Golden Corral has Yeast Rolls.
And when I was growing up, Mama served Brown N Serve Rolls. 😛
“I got a rock.”
Good costume, Chuck. You look like that Muppet drummer. Big improvement over a ghost with acne. 😀
GASP! An apology! Amazing!
Yep
Yep!
