I saw Captain America Civil War earlier today, very highly recommended if you enjoyed the other Marvel installments. I missed the Ant-Man movie though, so I didn’t recognize him until he was in the suit. XD
Also got a fan art update today! From ChaosKai3000, celebrating Selkie’s Grinchy smug Christmas grin:
Thank you!!!
The mildly inappropriate ringtones are back!
Doctor Pohl’s ringtone?
That’s what I was thinking.
I don’t like the what if. You need a Daddy Daughter day. You two need it.
The what if is probably a “What if we go do x thing together?”
Only he hasn’t thought of a good value for X.
The answer is “I’ll let you decide honey, within reason.” That could only make her happier. Which is what she needs.
That is what I am thinking. Such as “What if we go to this attraction? Or go to an all you can eat meat buffet? Or…”
Totes deciding what to do.
Selkie’s disbelief in the second panel is kind of sad…
Really hope they manage to have a good time and something doesn’t screw it up for them, phone ringing’s probably a bad sign though.
And seconding Civil War being awesome!
That Grinchy Selkie is *AWESOME!!!* Dr. Seuss would be proud, and a whole lotta Whos would be nervous.
As Sierra has guessed, probably Doctor Pohl is calling.
as Selkie’s Doctor, bad news would be them calling him.
but Pohl is calling them, as a family friend. meaning it’s Good news.
the Egg is about to hatch, and they’re inviting the Smiths
to be there when they welcome their Daughter.
which will probably take up the afternoon.
Selkie and Todd will probably do their Daddy/Daughter thing in the evening. maybe going to watch a movie or something.
perhaps an amusement park, and ice-cream.
and as a treat getting to stay up late.
Or maybe to Selkie’s favorite restaurant, maybe like the Brazilian place outside D.C. that has on the Eat-Until-You-Pop buffet menu; beef, lamb, goat, pork, chicken turkey, shrimp, lobster, and tuna, ….
And maybe they brought other stuff, but whatever they came to the table with, by that time, I was too full to pay attention. Selkie would like a restaurant like that, no?
There’s something super sad about the level of Selkie’s happiness in that panel. Seems Selkie’s been doing what she probably learned in the orphanage and hiding how upset she’s been until Grandma started asking questions. Pretty obvious she’s feeling really neglected…
I’d go beyond super sad to heartbreaking. Also dissapointing on Todd’s part that it took him this long AND a suggestion from Andi to even realize this was something he should do.
I get the feeling there’s a lot we’re not seeing, and that Todd hasn’t been paying attention to Selkie much at all.
A sushi bar, seafood place, habachi grill, swimming, aquarium with a seal show c’mon Todd you know what Selkie likes. Get going.
A sushi bar would be a fine place to take Selkie for a special occasion dinner… provided she mainly orders _sashimi_. “Sushi” is fish on rice, and the rice would make her ill.
Sushi doesn’t even necessarily involve fish. The vinegar rice is what defines it. There’s also non-fish sashimi, such as gari ginger and sometimes non-fish meats, at least according to Wikipedia.
Oh I hope that’s his phone in his pocket. The other possibilities are disturbing. Then again, mastering ventriloquism to make your ass sing tunes would probably be wonderfully entertaining to the majority of 8 year olds.
Yeah, there isn’t a small amount of resentment there. 🙁
At first I thought Selkie was just jumping to conclusions when she assumed he meant him and Amanda, but now that I think about it, her thought process wasn’t really a large leap of assumptions. He did just get off the phone with Andi about Amanda and Andi was talking about a mommy daughter day between her and Amanda, so really, it made sense that she thought that.
I hope though, that Selkie is just overreacting and that Todd hasn’t seriously neglected her lately. Sure, he’s neglected her in terms of not noticing her feelings, no matter how obvious they were, but I would like to hope he didn’t neglect her by also ignoring her and not giving her any attention. I don’t know how bad Todd is when he’s swept up in his own happiness so maybe he did outright neglect and ignore her in favor of Amanda.
You really should see Ant Man. It’s great.
