They had gotten a fondue set for Christmas, and little Todd wanted to dip EVERYTHING in chocolate.

I got more adorable Fan Art over the weekend to share! This is courtesy of Grace:
Thank you Grace! I love it!
(Incidentally, I tried to reply to your email to make sure it was ok to credit you with this name, and it got bounced back. If you wish to be credited as a different name, let me know. Thanks!)
Today's edition of the Secret Commentary is empty, because Dave failed to come up with something for it.

Oh my gosh, that’s some of the cutest fanart yet! <3
“Sometimes part of being a dad is knowing when to suck it up and eat the eyeballs” Brilliant!! I nearly fell off my chair laughing XD Poor Todd.
Hi, I just wanted to ask you what avatar is from
I’m kind of glad that Grandpa isn’t just accepting this situation… open-minded is fine, but finding out this right away can be a shock and to have him shrug it off wouldn’t be realistic.
I’m really interested in seeing what Day 2 is going to be like.
I love coming here on a Monday morning and getting some warm fuzzies before work ; )
Kudos to you, Dave… Your character designs are quite amazing. Everyone’s so human, so real. It’s a degree of depth in a story that I really enjoy.
I wish I wasn’t allergic to milk: I’d totally eat a chocolate onion ring, just because I’m curious now~
That parenting advice is golden. Dave, are you a parent? Because if you aren’t, you really have amazing insight on what it takes to be one. Not just speaking about this one comic, but the other ones come across as they could have been created by someone who had some down-to-earth experience with kids/parenting.
Nope, no kids for me yet. Love to some day though.
It’s amazing that with every comic you draw you make me love the story more and more!!! I love his Dad’s advice! “Suck it up and eat the eyeballs!”
LOL
try giving his lil top hairpatch abit of 3d on his head so you can see it on each side – instead of making it look like its always on the other side. Love your comic – thank you from another Wisconsinite. I wish I could adopt a selkie!
When my little sister was 8, she made a pie. The crust was great. The filling was pickles. The end result was disaster… but we still call her Pickle Pie when we tease her. That was 15 years ago… 😀
I used to love kettle-popped popcorn with steak tenderizer sprinkled on it as a kid.
I used to season ramen noodles with the packet, butter, chilli powder, pickled peppers, and the rest of the seasonings in the pantry. Also cheese.
That is just the most adorable fan art!
Great fan art!
Dave> great comment about the chocolate fondue! I love that you explain between the lines:)
Madrigorne> I would, too:) And good advice. That’s the only thing I could think of.
Hahahaha, I ate bizarre stuff when I was a kid too. I never offered it to my parents though, so they didn’t have to suffer through pickle-and-mustard sandwiches.
That’s my favorite fan art yet, so adorable!!
Wow I love this fanart! The best I’ve seen so far! Nothing against Dave, but I would love if the regular comic had this look. 🙂
That is the best fan art. And the advice is defenatly sound. for all ages accually. My grandson is 2. he does some weird stuff already to his food. Gets it from his dad.
ok, just one little thing I noticed. On Grandpa’s hair when seen from the front its on the top of his head while on the side shot it looks like its on his forehead.
Just thought I’d let you know. I loved the last line so much I made it my Status on Facebook for a whole day and of course added a link to the comic.
Hopefully I can get a few friends hooked on it too.
My monstrous creation when I was a child was “Sweet and Salty apples.”
Coffee with chocolate milk and deep-fried pickles. All I’m gonna say.
God, I’m a messed up kid.
My lack of male genatalia has me wishing you’d put “parent” instead of “dad” but that last line is so TRUE. 🙂
Guess I’ll join in on the crazy-childhood-food stories.
Upon being asked one Easter whether she liked pickles or candy more, my little then-4-years-old sister replied, without hesitation, “Pickles AND candy!” while stuffing both simultaneously into her mouth.
“Live by the eyeballs, die by the eyeballs”, to paraphrase a snarkmaster to be named later.
