Tread lightly, Todd. Choose your words carefully. You’re dealing with someone who likes to throw their clout around. He strikes me as the type who’ll lawyer up the instant he feels “threatened” and you’ll be getting a knock on the door from Officer Unfriendly.
To MISTER Trunchbull. Considering the fact that my daughter was punished for defending herself, I feel like I have no choice but to see legal action if Selkie so much as has a hair out of place thanks to your brute bully of a son. I will take you to civil court where the judge will likely not be impressed by fancy titles or degrees. Have a good day.
Then bring in the Agent. Unless he’s already cowed the cows.
My guess, as soon as Todd calls Mr. Truchbull, he’ll get a man begging to have government agents stop hounding him. I figure the principal would sell him out as soon as Agent Brown started pushing around with an investigation. Which would make the situation amusing.
I just had a horrible thought; did Dr Trunchbull have any hand in the aftermath of that fishing boat incident?
I’m really wandering how he came to know so much about the Sarnoothie.
Let’s see: the government is so terrified of war with Sarnoth that they’re willing to cover up the existence of an entire non-human civilisation within their own borders to prevent even one more idiot from bothering the Sarnothi. An essential part of this is the Sarnothi Orphan Adoption Plan (or SOAP as I have just named it), of which Selkie is an important test case. So it’s not even really about what power Agent Brown has. It’s about the power his bosses have.
The context is that Light is basically a magical assassin/serial killer hiding a television and magical notebook inside a bag of potato chips because he is currently being observed by the police through questionably legal surveillance methods. Doesn’t excuse the excessive DRAMA, though. XD
Well….I know what happens to Light….may Todd be smarter than that. I want to see how this show down between Todd and Trunchbull (Matilda fan by chance?) ends. It will end in tears…but whose? Seeing as Seklie is “protected” due to her situation I don’t think any petty plans Trunchbull has lined up will work.
I’m…more concerned for the school being caught in the middle and being torn apart. I hope that gets addressed.
This is actually something I specialize in (ultimatums and hardball argumentation) when it comes to dealing with other businesses and people. Being *actually* pissed can be a hugely important factor in getting the voice/posture/body language right, but can ruin the ability to be witty and powerful in words. It’s about balance.
I’m actually not that concerned about the idea of Todd getting sued. He seems pretty astute, from a legal perspective, and doesn’t he have lawyers in his family? I’m sure they’d be glad to help him out with a nice, solid lawsuit.
Oh, and universities? They REALLY dislike it when professors get involved in scandals… things like “non-renewal of contract” tend to come up.
I am seeing the Mr Trunchbull is working in a social sciences department. To me that would mean his rudeness and manipulations are pure calculation. He should know about being a functional member of society. These things make me want to see him be embarrassed or worse. Other people have been abused over extended periods like Selkie and Tod and maintain a reasonable level of courtesy toward others. Not Selkie so much but it is more expected of a child.
I noticed the same thing, but what struck me is how ironic it was that a someone who works in Social Sciences would raise such a maladjusted, thug-in-training child like Truck. Granted Social Sciences is not the same as Social Services, but they’re related branches so you’d figure he would at least be concerned about the warning signs of delinquency among his own.
People that get too close to an issue rarely see it until it’s too late. Besides, while he’s a Doctor, but we haven’t seen if Trunchy is a competent Doctor. He could be a talentless quack that got lucky and has been riding it the whole time.
Associate professor? That’s all?
Someone must be worried about not getting tenure or a full professorship if they’re that preoccupied with the title… Given his ego I would have assumed he was a head of department or a dean or something.
Oh yes, good catch there. Being sufficiently unpleasant will work to intimidate most people in ordinary circumstances, but then… you run into someone who’s motivated. I look forward to his comeuppance.
This was the point to the old phrase It is Better to Be Feared than Loved actually. The phrase continues saying if you must be one or the other it is better to be feared, but what one must never do is be hated. People motivated as such will go out of their way to hurt you even at cost to themselves.
Oh wait, She meant truck the KID
I thought something traumatic happened in her past.
Like a Hummer came and took he to the orphanage or something!
Haha, oh silly me!

Something tells me Agent trumps Officer.
I like throwing words around.

Ayup. That’s pretty much what you do.
And you say pretty much exactly the same thing to the principal and superintendent
Pissing off Gendo seems… unwise
You sounded way Obi-wan right there
Sounded a bit more… old knight from Last Crusade?
At first glance I thought Todd was talkin angry to his phone because it was acting up out of nowhere. Lol
My guess, as soon as Todd calls Mr. Truchbull, he’ll get a man begging to have government agents stop hounding him. I figure the principal would sell him out as soon as Agent Brown started pushing around with an investigation. Which would make the situation amusing.
I sure hope so. A knocking down of an over-sized ego is in order.
I still think Agent Brown is not high enough on the ladder to knock down Dr. Trunchbull.
I just had a horrible thought; did Dr Trunchbull have any hand in the aftermath of that fishing boat incident?

Snert … “Sarnoothie”. I know it’s just a typo, for which you are forgiven, but it sounds like a horrible amalgam of “Sarnath” and “nookie”.
Now that you mention it, do they even….. I mean they could be like fish….
This is the part where I contemplate whether or not it’s too early to get into “sar-nookie” methods.
Let’s see: the government is so terrified of war with Sarnoth that they’re willing to cover up the existence of an entire non-human civilisation within their own borders to prevent even one more idiot from bothering the Sarnothi. Augh! I want to see Mr. Trunchbull punished… And Truck get some good therapy.
Please, please, PLEASE! don’t let this backfire on Todd!!!
Thinking of it more as a social boxing-match. First round to Trunchbull. Ring bell for the second round.
It is only through TvTropes that I know how Light Yagami eats potato chips: and that is “I’M GOING TO TAKE THIS POTATO CHIP … AND EAT IT!!!”
I do so enjoy a good verbal smackdown. *begins playing dramatic music*

Todd, I know you have good intentions, but watch your words. You can get arrested or sued:X
Oh, the damn suspense!

I *really* want to see Todd take down Trunchbull.
Wasn’t done >__>
This, in it’s entirety, means you have written both a believable “villain” and a powerful protagonist that I want to hate and support, accordingly.
Man, when Todd finds out that Truck wasn’t suspended, there’s going to be fireworks…
Does…Todd know Truck wasn’t suspended?
I’m actually not that concerned about the idea of Todd getting sued. He seems pretty astute, from a legal perspective, and doesn’t he have lawyers in his family? I’m sure they’d be glad to help him out with a nice, solid lawsuit.

Oh honey, it doesn’t surprise me at *all*.

I’ll make an angry voice male… AND LEAVE IT!!!

It’s like the modern version of an “angry worded letter”
STRIFE!
I like Homestuck too.
“Todd makes angry voicemails the same way Light Yagami eats potato chips.”
Just laughed so hard my laptop rolled off my lap.
ANGRY VOICE MAIL TIME!
FIGHT!
