Chapter 1 is complete! Yay! ^______^
I’ve revised the speech bubble placement in the 5th and 6th panels, based on reader feedback. Hope it reads easier now.
Now I understand that in the webcomic world, it is customary for the artist to take a hiatus between chapters, of a duration anywhere from one week to six months.
I am not a fan of that practice, personally.
SO.
We’ll start up Chapter Two bright and shiny on Thursday , same place and time. 😀

Adorable, seriously adorable. Although, the original version DID make me cackle. Just a tiny bit, honest! Also, would that happen to be a reference to “Dragon Heart 2” there? Fun stuff.

I love Selkie’s face in the second panel… you can see her sincerity. As far as the two versions, I think the “revised” one is a bit better. I’d think Selkie would be more careful telling adult jokes around Todd because the other adults she’s been around thus far don’t seem to appreciate her telling such jokes 😉
Lastly… that Christmas fan art is just fantastic — Selkie is particularly adorable there!

Anywho– I like both strips. And I love how, the End Chapter is right over the last word of the joke in the original. So, 😀 to you.

Heehee, well it does help that I had something just beyond adorable to work with, and I’m likely going to be drawing more Selkie fan art. She’s cute and I love cute things!
Well the alternate script definately explains the joke that the other kid got introuble telling.. LOL

But yeah, I found the comic when it had just a few pages, then came back because I forgot about it, and then here was all these lovely pages and cute little selkie. I just had to draw her.
Lacewing, I love all your fan art, but especially her witch costume. I’d love to see Selkie trick-or-treating – I don’t think most people would know where her costume ended though. Second favorite is the pool picture – I love her pose! I hope Todd gets her a pool.

I’ll be honest, I personally much prefer the revised version – it just fits the feel the comic has given me so far (and personal reasons, but yeah) better.
Either way – Second panel WIN! And the ‘hiding the dolphin’ fanart’s gotta be my fav here. ^___^
lol yeah it’s an inflatable pool toy, I meant for it to be like the zombie ones from plants vs zombies. but she’s just cute and fun to draw
I feel the revised version suits the mood much better but I still love the original. Also a huge round of applause to the fan art. They’re all awesome and it makes me want to draw some up to submit. Only if I could get my scanner working, or go out and buy a new one.
OH MY GOSH!!! Everything was definitely FTW! today! I flipping loved it! I loved how this chapter ended. The original one made me laugh very loudly and Lacewing, darling, I LOVE your drawings! I thought Todd looked very handsome in the fanart. And Selkie was so flipping adorable, I wanted to huggle and cuddle her. And I may be a total nerd, but was someone mentioning HP movies? Dave, you’re a genius!
As a person who has tattoo’s of a happy face and a sad face on each shoulder and was also adopted. I want to say how much i have instantly fallen in love with your comic. Todd is a character who acts and treats his daughter like I do mine. Great job!

The original is funny but I think this version is a bit sweeter 🙂 (awed a bit at the ‘thanks for adopting me dad bit 😛 )
I was just looking over earlier comics, and I realized that the original version of this strip was a reference to the dirty joke Selkie mentioned before. Both versions work, but taking that into account I think I actually like the dirtier one better–nice tie-in, and it also gives the sense that Selkie’s got a bit of an edge.
Unrelated, I really love the accompanying fan art–just a great sense of making Selkie look alien yet entirely human and cute.
