For those who may have wondered why Selkie has been barefoot since the first time we met her, get ready for some answers. ^_^

I have a Fan Art page update today for everyone! Fanta sent this adorable what-if meeting between Selkie and her own character, Nikki:
And Anna Rodman sent this lovely drawing of Selkie and Todd, in the present and in the (possible) future.
Thank you both so much! ^^
Today's edition of the Secret Commentary is empty, because Dave failed to come up with something for it.
Hm, spam protection. Sorry to see you need that.
Todd looks good with that beard in the fan art. Nice!
Space heater before September?! Sounds like me. Todd, take the easy route, move to Arizona. Selkie’s gonna freeze solid by Thanksgiving!
Yeah, I don’t like it either. And it isn’t really helping a lot, so I may just remove the Mathalympics altogether.
Wimps, you wouldnt survive one winter in Wisconsin. The cold is awesome.
Despite the fact I live in Illinois, I can’t stand cold blustery winds and such. Those are great days to get a comforter and some hot soup.
Guess everyone just wierd then. I must be because I almost died as a infant.
Survived 15 and counting, after moving here from Massachusetts. This one looks like snow by Halloween. 😀
Hey … I live in Arizona. Snow was 2 1/2 feet deep in my front yard (the south side – that gets the sun!) last winter!!! ‘Course, I do live in the mountains …
So… It seems Selkie normal body tempture is lower then most… Or it could be of some OTHER reason… n_n
Also sad to know that a comic like dis needs a spam bloker D:
Shoes were invented by the Sith in order to keep our delicate toes in agony.
Present (fan art) Todd reminds me of G.T. Blitz from Jack X Combat Racing. Linkage: http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g183/Natan_the_6th/Games/GTBlitz.jpg
Future Todd reminds me of Jackson Dae of Supernormal Step. Don’t read any of the text in the picture, since it’s comic 192 of a continuous plot, and reading equals SPOILERS! Anyway, Jackson is in the first panel.

Actually, little known fact: Wearing shoes does indeed warp the foot structure of humans. Or at least the toes.
Selkie’s flippers entirely justify her lack of shoes! Although she could get some flops.
I must respectfully disagree with you there. Wearing improperly fitting shoes or high heals will warp the structure of the foot, but the proper shoes can actually prevent painfull natural warping of the foot. I myself am verry picky about the shoes I wear because I have a wide spread to my toes and very high arches that cause me pain when not supported (which sucks, because I love being barefoot but it hurts so bad.) A properly fitting shoe can actually prolong ones enjoyment of their feet.
I do however agree that the flipers justify her lack of shoes and I envie her for it.
…Some flipper-flops? 😀
Hahahahahahahahaha!
Excellent!
oh boy this no shoe thing might not go well for him
Shoeses? Whats are theses shoeses yous speaks of?
Also- is Selkie, like, from a tropical climate or something? Is she cold blooded? Aren’t some fish good with cooler temperatures? whoamigoodness origin clue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lol, Selkie, you little rascal. She has a reason not to wear shoes. I just forget mine. And I like how there’s a whole booklet on taking care of Selkie. I’m very excited to see where this goes.
One guess is that she might start to worry or freak out because of the shoe thing.
I also think that she might be partially amphibious and breathes through her skin or somthing. It would be kind of awesome since it would kind of make her super powered. She would also be a step above Aquaman since she has the claws and fangs.
And personally I hate shoes, because I always ran around bare foot as a kid. Made me tough and adventurous. I think its hilarious when I see kids frak out over stepping on a pebble or hot asphault.
And this is where my D&D knowledge kicks in with a vengeance. In Dungeons and Dragons 3.5, there’s a half-human, half-merfolk species called merg… also known as selkies… who have to go barefoot or they risk tearing the webbing between their toes and damaging their feet. My bet is this is the case here.
Evetsu> Awesome D&D knowledge:)
Dave> most people may not realize it but here in Reno, NV we get cold winters, lots of snow, and it is hot only 3 months out of the year. We get every season, not just Vegas. We are actually a lot cooler than Vegas. We’re a great vacation spot! Um, I should be plugging my webcomic and not my state. Anyways… My 2-yr-old wants a high-five. I better go:)
<— is a scatterbrain. I originally posted to inform Dave that Selkie is now added to Shards' favorite list:) And there I go and totally forget to post my original message, LOL. Distracted by daughter high-fives.
Awesome, thank you. ^^
Give your daughter a high five for me. 🙂
Hee hee!
Hmmm … well, I HAD noticed the lack of shoes throughout the earlier, just didn’t really think about it. I suppose that, given her apparently aquatic or semi-aquatic origins that shoes WOULD hurt those feetses (footses? footsies? nah).
So, yeah, I’m looking forward to some interesting revelations here …
Re: Fan Art: The Nikki character is a little scary! Come to that the older Selkie character is too! LOL Very well done work though …
Heehee, Selkie is so adorable. ^_^ I don’t think she’d really look right with shoes. Her feet are very nice. 🙂
I just realized that I gave her shoes in the comic I did. The same black buckle shoes my daughter was wearing in the picture I based the fanart on.
Ooops. :S
Nothing wrong with that, I liked the buckle shoes.
No shoes were made for her kind of feet. I doubt she needs them other than for looks and certain places that demand foot wear.
