my first reaction: O_O
But hey, she’s preeeetty cool. 🙂 I like the design of her face, what with the blacked out eyes and the pointed teeth. The ‘Heys.’ gives her kind of an adorable feeling. I love it- guessing this is Selkie, so I’m defin. following this comic now. :D!
I’m not wantign to sound rude or mean, but… I don’t think you’re 100% sure what a selkie isss….. It’s a woman who goes inside of a seal’s skin, and turns into a seal. In human form, she looks completely hman, vice-versa. SOOO, If this is meant to bea selkie, why does she look like that? Not that I don’tlike the way she looks, I like the character design and where the story is going, but, I just think you need to think a little harder on the mythologyof the story.
You don’t sound rude at all, I actually expected this to come up at some point or other, so thank you for bringing it up.
I don’t want to give away too much up front, but I will say that “selkie” is her name, but not what she is. Selkie (the character) is partially inspired by the mythological selkie creature, but she has other inspirations besides that and does not adhere strictly to any one mythological basis.
She cannot shapeshift, for example. And there will be no need for Todd to steal her coat (I mean he could, but that’d just be mean).
Bookmarked!
(By the way, I love how you elaborated on the previous comment. I like the idea of alluding to mythology without following it too closely. Leaves plenty of room for creativity!)
I like it, so I’m going to bookmark it too. I am curious as to what exactly Selkie will turn out to be though I am glad that you aren’t sticking to the mythology too hardcore.
I don’t know if it’s just my browser (Google chrome) but when I click the RSS button, I get taken to a page full of plain text. I’d love to keep up with this comic so please let me know if there’s another way to subscribe except bookmarking!
Just checkin the timestamp, Dave’s reply where that matter was addressed was made BEFORE your comment asking the question.
Guess you didn’t check first.
She might wanted help to somehow convey the message she wanted to speak out. But kidding aside, she maybe a clear vision of a individual who wants to go out or just got bored or maybe both that needs to unwind and go out of her shell to realized that there’s a lot she can do.
I introduced my mother to this comic the other day and her reaction to Selkie’s introduction was “Oh my! She’s rather scary-looking, isn’t she?”
The design for Selkie really turned out to be sort of brilliant. It’s alien enough that it really puts you off at first, but is just human enough so that she’s still identifiable to people and capable as registering as cute.
BTW, mom really loves the comic now. She read the whole thing and said that it was a really nice story.

Ahh, cool, a new webcomic. I remember starting mine out before I retired it. What’s your update schedule?
Updates are Mondays and Thursdays for right now. Thanks for coming!
She’s strangely adorable. Looking forward to more of this, keep up the good work.
Thank you!

The RSS feed works for me in Firefox. Sorry it isn’t working right, I will look into making it work for Google Chrome. Thanks for coming!
Hmmm… is she, by chance, a Selkie? Or is that her name? Or! Is it BOTH?!!
