“You know we love harassing people for political revenge, but who is going to belive and adult lifeguard is going to have enough money to justify an audit?”
let’s put this in context here: they were horsing around, which is against the rules. at least ONE of them knew better from previous assosiation. if anyone complained to the powers that be about the horsing around, the lifeguard could lose his job for NOT enforcing the rules. so yeah, he was peeved. was the charity case comment out of line? sure. but it was also an effective way to let the other guy know the lifeguard was NOT amused. I’d be willing to bet money there were previous incidents that got swept under the rug becasue avery is who he is. which puts MORE stress on said lifeguard.
It wasn’t an effective way to let him know he was annoyed, it was an effective way to let him know he’s a b-hole who doesn’t think before he opens his big mouth. There is no relation between insulting Avery’s family and commenting on horsing around.
There are plenty of ways to show being annoyed without lowering to insulting the patrons of the place you work. Kicking Avery out would be enough – and Avery was willing to go, he just wanted Selkie to be able to stay. Dropping down to insults after that point was rude – and not apologizing afterwards was not right. At least Avery gets to stay to keep an eye on Todd.
Excuse me, but in what way calling kids/patrons “charity cases” is in any way an effective way of doing anything but getting yourself reprimanded at the very least, for being rude to patrons and at most, fired for discriminating against the disabled? (And if the disability story is what they are going with, they can get hit with it, if Brown wanted to pursue it).
I do! My boss at the library also has a part-time job at the pool as a lifeguard, and a 3rd job as a referee for kids softball and baseball. If she caught anyone at her pool on that stuff they would be out of there so fast!
While it probably isn’t polite to imply that Avery is doing it, let’s all stop pretending that there aren’t a lot of people who like collecting hard cases and dependents like trading cards to make themselves look better.
Probably… *winkwinknudgenudge*
Gotta admit, Avery *does* have some tools he could use to retaliate…
I would have called Johnnie on that, though. He doesn’t have the right to be a dick, especially when children are concerned.
Johnnie. You need a lesson in manners and to not be an a-hole. -__- Maybe a very stern talking to by his bosses.
Also Avery has more restraint than I would’ve if someone was talking about my loved ones like that.
The training these agents get must be tough stuff.
“I mean the particle beam satellite is just SITTING up there, it’d be a shame not to use it.”
Avery on the phone on Monday: Hello, I.R.S.?
“You know we love harassing people for political revenge, but who is going to belive and adult lifeguard is going to have enough money to justify an audit?”
“….Check his dependents. I’m sure he has kids, and if I’m right, they’re living with their mother and NOT with him.” >:D
Amateur MiBs call in the IRS. Professional ones call in Justice, or Education if they’re feeling moderately merciful that day.
I love Avery’s ashamed little pee-pee dance as Johnny walks away.
I think that’s just a diving pose.
:p That’s what I thought it was at first, also. But I think Rinikex is correct.

You can’t take for granted that previous incidents have happened
Effective is not the same as right.
He was insulting Avery’s family. Defending that it’s just awful.

Hey, ya don’t need to ask a hitman to kill a guy for being a jerk. Just pay some rent-a-thug to ambush-punch him once and leave it at that.
I mean, if you REALLY want to, you could probably get people to do it for free.
Even among thugs, there are standards.
hes a life guard. have his house visited by the DEA. I don’t know ONE life guard that didn’t have at least a moderate stash of “ahem” at home.

I love Selki’s grin I’m the last panel.

Why you need that people stop pretending that?
Bartleby the scrivener?
I have to ask.. What is going on in panel four?
Avery is about to jump into the pool. While Jhonnie walks away.
Joking about doing it, yes. BEING able to do it, well…
