Ignoring someone who wants to make nice or at least get closure is a real dick-move. I have little respect for someone who won’t even try.
You do realize we have no idea what happened. It could have been the latest in a series or otherwise just the last straw.
Yes, it would be a dick move, but do we know that’s what she wants? It could be that she called to ream him out AGAIN. Just cause the ringtone is friendly, doesn’t mean she is. Or He, who am I to judge relationships these days.
She left messages on his answering machine practically begging him to pick up because she wanted to just talk about whatever. He’s obviously not ignoring her because he feels righteously angered at whatever she did, even if she DID do something wrong. He’s just afraid to pick up.
I don’t think what Todd is doing is dick-ish at all, if I’ve predicted it right. It might be that the relationship has well and truly ended, but his other half simply isn’t willing to let things go. I just got through a rather rough break-up, one I ended of my own accord, and I can tell you that sometimes the other half just will not let go. He might not be ignoring her simply because he’s a dick, but because he feels the relationship is rightly over with and has given his other half appropriate closure already; he/she just may not be willing to accept said closure for what is is.
he looks like he wants to answer but at the same time it hurts too much. I think any guy willing to adopt cant be all bad. Even if she didnt do anything wrong and he is being a dick well… YAY for plot twisters!!!!

We don’t know the full story yet. It’s just as bad to judge so early now as is his not picking up. But sometimes you just really don’t want to talk to someone. Maybe you told them that you did and they won’t respect you. I’ve dealt with that where people just won’t stop talking to me even though I clearly stated that I didn’t want to speak with them. It’s really all in the context of their relationship, something which we don’t know enough about to judge.
Remember that Todd was single when this strip started, and that was (I think) four months ago, comic-time.
I doubt the stern ms. Lillian would have approved him if he had started and ended a relationship in that time, so we are talking about an ex that calls him at least four months after the end. This is what restraining orders are for.

I feel kinda curious about Todd and “his Alexis”, now– and a little sorry for
him. Bad breakups can be messy in the worst way, if that’s what this is.
Man, he better get her some custom soccer shoes or get her into football. She has great aim and control. And just look at how fast she took off, she could be an all star in one season.

@Kojo: it IS a bit dickish of Todd, but that Selkie would come first right now is understandable. We also don’t know the circumstances surrounding his ex-SO; he may have already given as much closure as he can, and the ex refuses to accept it.
That said, it’s established that Selkie has a fine-tuned BS detector. She isn’t going to be distracted from important questions by sushi forever.
And Jessie is definitely a sweetheart. I hope we eventually see more of her.

i just want to say i love this comic so much ive read it like 3 or 4 times now and it still as funny as the first.
and on a side note i might start thinking about adopting a kid in the future
Jessie seemed like she was going to be a stereotypical vapid teenager, but she’s turned out significantly deeper than that. Well-done!
It’s starting to bother me that there is an ‘s’ after every other word. I don’t know any eight year olds that talk like that.
I love the story and the characters but it’s really starting to take away from my enjoyment. (Please don’t flame me D: I’m just trying to dish out some constructive criticism.)
I welcome all feedback, thanks for letting me know how you feel about Selkie’s speech patterns. I am sorry if it’s annoying you, but I don’t have any plans to adjust her speech patterns at this time.
Ah, but her esses are a big part of what endeared her to me right off!
