Do what I do. Work all night. The morning people don’t bother waking me up because more than likely I’d only have like 2 hours sleep if they tried it. Works like a charm.
Used to. Worked night shift at a hospital while I was in college, it was wonderful. Sadly, my programming job, while paying significantly more, does not allow the same hours.
Ha, stringing us along, making us think we’d get a quick transition to the meeting. Well played. We need some humor/chaos after the gravity of the last few updates (not to say they weren’t important, we just need the lulz)
Amanda needs a little more time to bake before that meeting transpires. Her insides are piping hot, but her crust needs to get just a bit more golden and flaky.
About time to compile a list of words that do NOT have adopted a derogatory connotation (usually of some sexual preference) yet. (Nor of which that secondary connotation did become the main meaning of today.)
dude!… there are ZERO cigarettes mentioned in the TEXT of this comic, there are ZERO pictures of them, in ANY PANEL at all, of the last two pages of the strip… WTF are you TALKING ABOUT?!
Given Dave “corrected the spelling” for this poster, I’m going to assume that it was, in fact, not cigarettes they were talking about, but homosexuality.
Why they commented one word that was apparently a slur for homosexuals on this comic, I do not know, but apparently they did.
It’s only the color. Most people change their overall styleโand Andi’s is so out there it’s kind of wild she kept it so long. She must pay a second mortgage on hair spray.
i don’t think that was “poor impulse control” i think that was the “some kids are put up for adoption for a GOOD REASON” that reason for Todd, i think, was that he was being abused physically.
Anyone else seeing future intensified hatred of Selkie on Amanda’s part when she finds out Todd literally couldn’t pick his own daughter out of a crowd? She won’t care that he didn’t know in the first place.
Is it just me, or is it true that while Amanda does not particularly resemble either of her bio-parents physically, she is a dead ringer for her grandmother?
AH!, the 64 million dollar question… does ANDI even KNOW that Selkie and Amanda were in the SAME orphanage?? HECK, does she even CARE!!?? Me personally, I’m not familiar with how big the “regions” that orphanages call their own, for purposes of who they accept children from or send them off to another orphanage to look after, but i would assume that there are more than just the ONE orphanage in the area… that being said, if Andi doesn’t know if an eight year old needs or doesn’t need DIAPERS, i highly doubt that she knows, nor even CARES about how many orphanages there are in her city, she only cares that Amanda is in that particular one… she won’t think about it until she ends up with Amanda and Selkie in the same room and them arguing about it… I’m sure that this will be a large portion of an upcoming story arc over how Andi tells (or DOESN’T tell) Amanda about Todd, and vice versa, whether or not she tells Todd that Amanda is his biological daughter, or will let him erroneously think that she just adopted another girl named “Amanda” and won’t take Andi seriously about it., because he thinks that she fixated on the NAME rather than the fact that she REALLY IS her and his REAL daughter…
I was thinking would the orphanage be required to contact Todd for his take on this. I could see the orphanage asking Andi who the father was and then following up on this to see todd’s view of Andi as a prospective parent and his reasons for giving Amanda up. I don’t see Andi letting them know Todd didn’t have a say.
I don’t see Andi letting them know about Todd at all. This isn’t meant to be offensive, but I feel like it’s kind of obvious that Andi didn’t name any ‘father’ on the birth certificate (probably her mother’s coercing), because if she had, then it would have been impossible to give away rights to Amanda with only 1 party of the 2 parents being present. Another reason is that if they HAD known who Todd was due to his name being on the birth certificate (even if Todd didn’t), I feel like Vivienne would have said something along the lines of:
“Ahem, Mr. Smith. You have the sheer audacity to walk into the child adoption agency that the child YOU gave up still resides in, yet you’ve come in to adopt a DIFFERENT child? Get out.”
yeah, i keep forgetting that THIS comment system allows you to use the “enter” key to make a new paragraph, others i frequent make it so that if you hit enter, it submits the comment, usually in the middle of my thought process…
Oh…. FUCK. This will mean that Selkie and Amanda, whether they like it or not, are sisters… And holy shit, the fallout when Todd learns about all this is gonna be epically disastrous.
Ugh, morning people.
Iknowrite? : /
But there’s a plan… yes, a plan… One morning, when they least expect it… us non-morning people will rise up and STRIKE!!
….. right after morning coffee………zzzzz……

For some people “G’morning” and “G’way” are synonymous.
That’s why I like to spell it good mourning.
… I gotta remember that one!!!
“What a lot of things you do use ‘Good morning’ for! Now you mean that you want to get rid of me, and that it won’t be good till I move off.”

Well, I’m surprised Amanda isn’t angry at her room mate. I’ll be even more surprised if she doesn’t explode when she meets Andi.
Actually, she is quite angry. It just takes her a few beats to gear into full action. ย

Cigarettes
(I took the liberty of fixing your spelling of this word, although I have no idea why you chose to spell it that way. Please don’t do it again.
-Dave)
Homophobic slur slinger say what? -_-

Hahahaha! I love it!
“Misspelling” was an attempt on my part to be humorous.
His comment was a slur word against homosexuals, which in other regions of the world happens to be a slang word for “cigarette”.
Also, “bundle of sticks”.
Good edit! It’s got totally different meanings here than it does in England ๐
*chuckle* Yep. Know those times.
Give me my dream baaaack!
(Also, ignore the obvious troll.)
I know how Amanda feels. Mornings reek. DX
Andi really needs a change of design, Dave. Her hair is just…weird.
Also, I haven’t commented much until this point, but I’m throwing myself in her mom’s camp. This is a poorly thought out action by Andi.
I don’t mind the style of her hair, but I find it odd that it is nearly exactly the same as it was when she was a teenager.
she had green forelocks in hs, now they are purple, that’s a change isn’t it?
It’s only the color. Most people change their overall styleโand Andi’s is so out there it’s kind of wild she kept it so long. She must pay a second mortgage on hair spray.
BTW, I love your hair in your pic. It’s beautiful!
Maybe Andi still looks like she did when she was a teenager because she’s still more of a teenager than an adult?
This whole family has poor impulse control.
*grumble grumble where’s my coffee?*
I think you nailed it! From what we saw of Todd’s childhood, he did, too, before he ended up with his awesome family.
i don’t think that was “poor impulse control” i think that was the “some kids are put up for adoption for a GOOD REASON” that reason for Todd, i think, was that he was being abused physically.
Andi, I know you’re angry at your mom, and I get that, but she REALLY DOES have a point here.
Patricia, seriously, you should’ve gone with the honey there before coming back to this.
Anyone else seeing future intensified hatred of Selkie on Amanda’s part when she finds out Todd literally couldn’t pick his own daughter out of a crowd? She won’t care that he didn’t know in the first place.
Oh, don’t worry, we all have! Ever since the initial revelation, really…
Is it just me, or is it true that while Amanda does not particularly resemble either of her bio-parents physically, she is a dead ringer for her grandmother?
Maybe, but it seems to me that she’s got Andi’s natural hair coloring and Todd’s rounder face.
Great catch! You’re absolutely right, she is indeed the spitting image of Patricia.
Aw man I could go for a pony dream.. My dreams are always so boring.
Pony dream? More like dancing horses: https://selkiecomic.com/comic/selkie128/
I’m wondering what if Andi has to reveal that Todd is Amanda’s father. Would that change anything?

Did Andi even tell Todd their baby’s name?

Shouldn’t Mikella be tagged?
She’s not, at this time, a planned re-occuring character.
Hey, thanks for the Dawngate shoutouts, it’s nice to see the game’s legacy alive outside of the subreddit. ๐
Yeah it seemed like a fun little thing to do. ๐
