She comes by the eyebrows honestly.
Rachel being John Ashton's daughter originally had more of a "shock reveal" to it regarding Selkie (YOU'RES HIS KIDS?! WHATS THE CRAPS?!?!?!) but I trimmed that reaction scene out of the final draft. Still wanna show the relationship, though.
Did NOT see that coming.
Who’s going “Hmmm” in panel 8? they look like a Predator in the inviso-camoflage, where you can barely see that “something” is there but not exactly what it is… or is that panel just not finished yet?
No, that panel is finished. I made sure to get those two done first explicitly because of… whatever is going on there.
Maybe it’s a sending from Selkie’s hair clip!
Looks Sarnothi-shaped to me. (Particularly given the designs for Sarnothi armour.)
It’s in the second to last panel too, whatever/whoever it may be.
Oh craps, it’s a !
I so did not notice that. I just assumed it was Todd off screen!
Oh craps! I thought that was wall texture, maybe water-damage showing that the school was also falling down physically as well but dangs. Now I am intensely curious as to whether Selkie is being closely monitored due to being test subject one or “lost princess”.
“Any of THEM, ever again” ? you mean “those people”? The ones with the gills and venom and black sclera? Poor bigoted little Hobbit.
Or the Men in Black…
Or just kids in general.
DAMN that thing is hard to see. But after fiddling with my brightness settings, I have convinced myself that the invisible Sarnothi is female. Sai Fen, perhaps? Or Plo Quar? Or a Sarnothi who works with the feds?
Nothing like a “surprise, surprise,” to shake up my morning.
Making his daughter abandon her kid-sitter duties isn´t going to score Ashton any points anywhere, either…
… So you’re throwing a tantrum. Real mature, Principal Hobbit. Real mature.
Oh, man. If Selkie’s hair pins offered her some kind of protection from being found by the people who wiped out the rest of her kind, this could be a Very Bad Thing. Or maybe it’s a friendly Sarnothi. It’s definitely a Sarnothi though, either way. Looking forward to the Weds update! Don’t leave us hanging, Dave!! 😮
Okay. He’s beaten already. You can stop calling him a hobbit. Not that you should’ve been calling him that in the first place.
Wow, I didn’t even notice the invisible outlines until you guys pointed them out. By the way Dave, what do you mean by she comes by the eyebrows?
(Rachel being Ashton’s daughter was a real twist there.)
They both have heavy eyebrows.
Well, that raises a lot of questions… mostly from the last panel…
Maybe you should make that outline a little thicker? I didn’t notice it until you pointed it out.
Also, HOLY SHIT.
I didn’t notice it either, and I thoroughly prefer it that way. It’s much more awesome to figure something out partway through the story, rush back through the pages and go “Holy cow, I missed it!” than to have everything hand-held like most comics do.
Think of the thicker, more obvious outline being the artistic equivalent of those “I’ll use my super strength to lift this bolder out of the way” comments of the older comics — utterly unnecessary, and distracting for those of us who are competent at piecing things together on our own.
Huh. I don’t recall knowing that the Sarnothi have cloaking technology. Is this the first we’ve heard of it?
I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m basing my guess on the fact that we *do* know the Sarnothi have “magic” (or advanced technology). It’s not a huge leap (although I admit it IS a leap) to think that an apex predator capable of magic would also know how to camouflage themselves.
It may be technology or it may be a natural ability, think of cuttlefish and octopi as well as fish and sharks that have natural camouflage abilities (sometimes to an amazing degree). Selkie may have some other abilities she doesn’t know how to use yet other than the green-sparks magic.
This is the first time it’s been shown, yes.
Why do I see Arnold in my mind, telling the Predator it’s fugly as it removes its helmet?
Bruh saying stuff like that means you are going to see them a LOT. Ever heard of irony?
I wish the “like” feature was still enabled. And worked. Because that made me really laugh out loud. 🙂
heck, besides the irony factor and *rule of funny* there is also the security factor to consider… if the Government *stops* following him, how will they know if he violates his Top Secret NDA? nope, the only way out of this WITHOUT Agents following him around some more is if the whole thing comes out into the open… and becomes a “white” project versus its current “black ops” status…
Yeahhh, she’s not joking.
WHAT THE SHIT.
I Can see her imprint!
Why is she INVISIBLE?
Jesus fucking CHRIST.
He literally doesn’t care that she’d be leaving a kid unsupervised? “They’ll live”? SEIROUSLY????
