So, I was thinking about Selkie’s screech and how it sounds to me over the weekend, and it’s not exactly what I hear in my head, but if you took this, but gave it the shrill piercing quality of this, it’d be close.
Also, I will let you, the reader, decide if this works for a theoretical adult Selkie. ;P
I can't decide if Mrs. Tarenberg and the Ikaris are being concerned neighbors, or just a little nosy. XD
This is wonderful.
All those people have such a good sense of community, they actually come and check up whether their neighbours are alright, rather than just turning a blind eye and a deaf ear to cover their own hide! ^^
Yeah wonderful, for anybody but Selkie. Now the whole building’s going to know.
Something like that at point blank range. I can see how it could make someone wet their pants. On a side note I think Todd gets high marks for caring neighbors.
The gecko/hawk combo was pretty close to what I was imagining.
I pictured it actually as having more of a scream of the xenomorphs from the aliens movies as the trailing, kid-with-pronunciation-problems end of a lower pitched squeal. Something that in water travels really well and probably would vibrate the fluid in a land animal in such a way that it would be quite viscerally terrifying.
I think the adult’s screech would be more highpitched, perhaps more like a dolphin’s sounds. The mer-people probably use echo location under water.
I had no idea a gecko could make such a noise! Although the hawk, that sound I know and love.
I was thinking more of the raptor noises from Jurassic Park, which mixed dolphin screams, walrus bellows, hissing geese and an african crane’s mating call, plus some human rasps, according to wikipedia.
And – hooray, not just humiliation, public humiliation! Yikes. Selkie’s face is perfect in its “dear God, can’t I please make this un-happen” expression.
Todd go hug and comfort your daughter already!
From now on it’s my headcanon that all of this takes place some time after Third Impact.
Never changing my mind.
Awesome, thanks for sharing your scream research 😀
Such screeches under water can have a variety of uses. From stunning a predator to escape. maybe they use some echolocation or just general communication under water.
I’m rereading the comic…again. Her name is EUPHEMIA?
