From the preview blurb I was expecting a “her-situation-is-completely-different-from-yours” conversation not a “okay-that-sounded-more-sarcastic-in-my-head” conversation.
I actually think Benny likes Todd, but he feels guilty because he also feels like he is somehow betraying the memory of his bio dad. I like seeing Benny show moments of growth like this. I can also see that Benny and his mother mean a lot to Todd.

Ouch. I suspect neither Todd nor Selkie know that her father’s identity is gossiped about as freely as this makes it look.
Most people do get smarter when they stop shouting, and start listening.
Sometimes you just need to hear your own voice, say it, to properly evaluate it.
