I’m not sure that I would still be giving her the passcode, but instead helping her get it elsewhere. I also feel old in that I like having a hard copy of the music with things like CDs along with a more digital form. I really hate how it feels like everything has turned subscriber based and you don’t control what you have access to.
I mean, I don’t think there is a physical version given that she seems to have just come out of nowhere and the album literally didn’t exist like half an hour ago when she was in the car.
Yeah, I was more speaking in general rather than a direct reference to this singer. Part of it might be that I still have old cars that only have CD players combine with bad data coverage due to mountains and valleys in the area (so apps that rely on a connection are basically useless). I just know from experience that there are a lot of background songs to games or tv shows that I like where it can be really difficult to find the actual thing except for an online digital version (which cars get cranky about if you try to use a CD with that on it).
The problem with getting kids CDs these days is that they’re less and less likely to have a CD player. We had to buy a separate optical drive for our computer (so that we could play our CD collection), and while we did manage to find CD players for our kids we had to go online, you can’t just buy them anymore. My compromise is album downloads – you don’t need to read a CD but you also don’t need a subscription.
For computers yes. I think most computers are removing it for “space” reasons, like the audio jack in smart phones. I think they tend to remove it for more control and pricing reasons, like the mini sd card slot in smart phones. A lot easier to push subscriptions or other services (which a lot of these companies have a vested interest to get people to sign up for, like amazon) if you can’t add something yourself or get a hard copy yourself.
Not that I don’t mind having options. As with the audio jack, it can be nice to have bluetooth sometimes. I just don’t want my only options to be between having an audio jack and having a higher quality phone with better cameras and storage. It doesn’t feel like they are giving customers an option when basically all companies remove it at the same time. As a quote from an article by Roger Fingas in 2021, “Driving us towards a portless future is a steady pressure in the corporate world: profit margins. Phasing out ports reduces parts costs while leaving room in a phone’s body for sexier features companies are willing to spend more on, such as powerful chips and bigger batteries.” What the customer actually would prefer is set aside for what would make the company the biggest profit. Pushing people to buy newer phones with better storage space, subsciptions to access music so that you don’t have to worry about storing it and losing it on a usb or computer, better bluetooth earbuds with better battery life or a new set if they lose one. Audio jacks started phasing out in 2016 (with iPhone) and progress all the way to google in 2021. I would hope that my smart phone would last more than 5 years, which means that customers that cared might not have had a chance to show their thoughts before all the main companies had removed them.
While I understand the point of space for laptops, I find such a claim stupid for desktops. So again, on this front, I think it is a way to force control over the consumer. Either you have to pay to have the space on you computer to store everything (which can be a lot for music, videos and games) or you go a subscription route or through some other online service. These online services mean that you have to rely on the provider not deciding to take away an option. It also limits the ability to share, which is something that companies have been fighting against for ages. Companies have never liked people treating music or a game like a library book, where you can let someone else experience it once you are done. I’m not really a fan of how extreme they have gotten with it, but I can’t see much being done about it.
My issue is becoming long term storage. Sadly even DVD and VHS tapes degrade over time. And we’re getting to the point where that’s becomming an issue. A really old VHS, wher you might have the last copy… and that copy is effectively rotting.
Some parental control programs will generate a temporary passcode that the parent can give the kid to use. Others have an approach of letting the parent know that the kid wants to buy something, and then you can either allow or deny the purchase. And still others do both for extra protection.
It’d be interesting if that were the case, because I feel like when 613 came out Selkie was the only sarnothi student at the school. So it’d require some plot hole closing for sure
two children react the same to something that’s likely echo powered/ resonance powered. one develops echo powers. the other… would probably also develop such powers.
also, it’s likely that truck has been exposed to sarnothi/echos (even if they were hiding it), as his father worked with them. amanda has been exposed to selkie for years. this disparity could explain why amanda “popped” before truck did (assuming my crack theory is correct)
Given Truck’s behavioral issues, the idea of him developing Echo powers is kind of scary, he’s the exact kind of kid you WOULDN’T want slinging lasers around. He’d need a strict mentor who wouldn’t tolerate even the notion of trying to push others around with those powers. Scar, maybe?

That is good to know. Thank you for the information.
Yay, another line work to enjoy ☺️
I like how distinctive her hairstyle is even without color.
plot twist: Felicia is Selkies speech teacher (Mor’kama) or even… tnough probably nott… her own mom (Jin’Sorai)
i just realized that amanda is a COMPETITIVE (?) animal crossing player
and also felicia is a kid. see 613.

It’s a fairly common name. I’m assuming coincidence.
never met a felicia.
I grew up knowing two, one in my class, and one was my dad’s co-worker.
i have a theory.
i think Truck is similar to Amanda.
they both seem to violently overreact to selkie screeching (specifically in https://selkiecomic.com/comic/selkie310/ and https://selkiecomic.com/comic/selkie311/ , where it’s suspiciously green). that’s the main core of my argument.

Does she need to learn some more budget restraint :{
