Oooooh, The lukewarm reassurance AFTER you ratcheted up the tension in the first place? It doesn’t matter if you don’t have a plan. A parent is supposed to be a child’s rock of calm and confidence. in the middle of a crisis. It is okay to admit that you don’t fully HAVE a plan, yet, the key is to radiate that calm and confidence the child can’t yet generate themselves.
What is with thr Todd hate lately? Just because a parent is suppose to be a child’s rock doesn’t mean that they will be absolutely perfect every single time. Todd is dealing with things that just don’t happen in our world, so he has to process things that are basically super powers in real time. He is probably also dealing with a ringing head after the screeching.
I also don’t see how this is a lukewarm response. He reassures that it will be okay and then focuses on the cause, probably to prevent it from happening again. Preventing it from happening again is very important, as uncontrolled flashbacks are dangerous for many reasons. Figuring out what to do about the aftereffects is secondary considering it doesn’t require immediate medical attention. From just getting a new hair style, to extensions or wigs, there are a lot of ways that he could play it as “fun” to fix the problem.
If I were going to be cranky at anyone during this, it would be Pohl, though I really wonder if he even knew this could happen. He is the one teaching and supervising their power training. The fact that he yelled for Todd rather than taking the time to ascertain what happened and calmly explaining why it happened is interesting. He is the one that is the most knowledgeable about these things, and therefore should reasonably be the most calm about all of this. Transferring the lead back to Todd on this is why I think he has never seen this before.
Everybody hated Amanda, but now they don’t anymore. Everybody hated Andi, but now they don’t anymore. I guess they needed somebody to hate, so it’s Todd’s turn.
Everyone is talking hair extensions, but maybe it’s time for Selkie to get comfortable with having a hairstyle that shows her ears. Maybe Andi can help.
There is choosing a hairstyle that shows your ears and being forced to choose a hairstyle that shows her ears. I would rather that she decide on her own terms than being forced into it by an accident.
Poor kids. Even Amanda looks traumatized, not just that this might also happen to HER but she’s genuinely scared for Selkie.
I think this is a good time to get some hair extensions.
you mean ear extensions
Oof, the second panel is killing me. “I don’t want to look weirder”
Poor, poor thing.
(Whoa, I didn’t know “fashback” has another meaning)
This doesn’t happen when you live under water.
Okay girls, it’s time to introduce you to ‘Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse’
Selkie could get an undercut on the burned side and get her initial buzzed into it. It could be cool.

Yeah, and Todd WAS pretty calm.
Yeah, don’t think a crew cut or a Moe Howard is gonna work…maybe a wig?
Hair extensions time! They look super real. This can be salvaged.
