I like how Todd immediately focuses on Selkie, not demanding answers but being there for her. Followed by him demanding answers from Pohl and calling his ex for a good hair stylist.
And the person who was most likely to bully Selkie is:
1: responsible for the burning
2: Absolutely in Selkie’s corner
thus, Selkie has an ally who is absolutely going to go to bat for her if anyone tries to bully her.
To be fair, we don’t have any confirmation that Amanda’s responsible for it. Going back to https://selkiecomic.com/comic/selkie1996/, the exercise was to “focus on how it feels,” and in the previous update Selkie was saying how she definitely felt something. That sounds more like she blew herself up to me.
“Selkie, It’s going to be fine, you accidentally burnt some of your hair off, but it will grow back out and we can fix it up in the meantime.”
THAT is what you should have said, dad, instead of making sure everything happened with maximum drama. I realize you are still new at this, but good God, man. Did you learn NOTHONG from your dad?
Disagree: you are immediately moving on to the next stage before Selkie has a chance to react and process, thereby dismissing that. Yes you want to be there and comfort her and I know you want to solve her problem, but you have to do it at her speed not your own.
Haven’t had a good skreee in a while. Wonder if she can get the baby to echo back.
That said, time to find out if the echo tech has any hair growing technology.
Poor baby
Pretty sure I would have had a similar response, immediately followed with hysterical sobbing.
For sure. At least it wasn’t waist length hair?

I don’t see the problem, many young girls shave half their head and leave the other half long.
The issue is Selkie is self conscious about her ears and wore her hair down to cover them.
Let’s hope it became less of an issue, now that there are other Sarnothi kids around

Yeah, that’s a reasonable reaction.
My spectacles!

Hope they covered their ears.
