Hmmm…. I’m starting to think about an idea for Human-Sarnothi relations that could be helpful. Anti venom lip balm. We could make it bacon flavored! Although there could also be something to be said about removing the venom glands if they are going to end up mostly vestigial above land. Man…. There is a lot of socio-politics to figure out with all this.
Given previous instances of this coming up, I’m pretty sure that Sarnothi are like Komodo Dragons and the venom is just part of their saliva and not produced by a separate gland.
I’m a little late on this, but… yes, Sarnothi venom does seem to be incorporated into the saliva. Komodo Dragons, though? Not so much, apparently. https://static1.squarespace.com/static/55a239e2e4b0b3a7ae106f25/t/59814cb7d7bdcec5507c1c47/1501646018148/2009_Fry_Komodo_Megalania%282%29.pdf is a study showing the Komodo Dragon’s mandibular venom gland is a distinct structure.
Despite popular belief, it’s apparently a myth that Varanus komodoensis accumulates nasty bacteria in its mouth to infect victims. While water buffalo, post-bite, did apparently suffer fatal bacterial infections, it seems to have been a consequence of them wallowing in mud after being bitten; they evolved in a place where this was good practice, but humans brought them to a new habit which lacked the marshes and bogs they were used to, and the muddy pits they used instead were more likely to be contaminated.
Sarnothi kids really are just feral little fish-goblins and it’s oddly adorable.

Not sure that would go well for inter species relations. We don’t trust you to not bite us, so we want to remove a part of your body.

Nom nom, tasty fingers.
Todd is finger licking good.
“Size doesn’t matter” has never been more relevant lol
Maybe they should make an anti-venom ointment though, so Selkie could give Todd goodbye kisses again.
