“Yeah, I probably shouldn’t tell you girls this, but your dad? Not good at being creative. He designs the most boring buildings I’ve ever seen. Just endless squares and add-ons I think he gets from a DIY computer program. If I didn’t know his boss through the S&M club Grandma and I are part of, there’s no way he’d ever have got that job. Heheheh, his boss still hasn’t forgiven me. Best trolling I’ve ever done. I do like to deserve my punishment…”
Wait, if Todd “isn’t very creative”, how the heck is he an architect? That’s one of the most creative of the engineering-adjacent disciplines…
I mean, maybe he can’t drive a nail to save his life, but he’s gotta be able to design stuff, and that’s a creative endeavor.
I agree, it was poorly worded. Perhaps what Theo should have said was more along the lines of ‘this kind if creativity’. Or perhaps even specifically ‘handiwork’, since being able to draw something on paper and being able to build it with your hands are two entirely different skills.
I just wanted to say thanks for everyone’s technical science responses yesterday, even if I haven’t had time to read them. I did already guess that the explanation was something along those lines, but I do like the opportunity to hear about it in more scientific detail. I guess another part is with scifi and fantasy I like hearing more about the technical details. Lastly I am not very social nor to I often get the opportunity to socialize.

I think Theo was thinking creative as in turning raw stock into something usable, not as in design.

Well sure! How accurate would a wobbly death ray be? Mountings are important!
