I think you’re being quite unfair to Avery. As I said a couple comics ago, there are undoubtedly some things he’s not allowed to reveal to Todd. It’s not his fault Todd doesn’t have the appropriate clearance.
No, Plo Quar literally has Avery in her phone as “Asshole”.
Wonder how much of that “nickname” has to do with how Avery has handled selkies adoption and confiscation of the bow.

For some reason “Secret agent man” started playing in my head when I saw this. I mean, odds are she’s in hiding, but I’m willing ti bet any intelligence agency out there would love a laser wizard on staff.
I got “FBI” by the Shadows, same reason I suspect.

Selkie had to wear sunglasses for a while when they couldn’t get the Echo glow in her eyes to stop. She used string to tie them behind her head.
Which a fair number of people *with* external ears use if they expect to do anything athletic, so they’re not even hard to find.
I think it’s totally doable with a skinny bungie cord. I use one on my goggles for swimming and they hold on very nicely even though my ears are covered by my cap.

It’s the same conversation Avery was having with her, but from Plo Quar’s perspective.
It’s the same texts from two strips ago, from the other side.
To clarify, Avery is asking if she was recognized last time she was out and about, because someone talked to HER:tm:, being Selkie.
Plo knows exactly who he’s talking about, and says “No. Don’t bother me again unless it’s actually IMPORTANT.”
Sounds to me like she’s being a bit of a bitch. Judging by the words, the abrupt punctuation and what we can see of her face.
Just my impression. But so far, Plo Quar, you no make a good impression.
I mean it’s not like people aren’t supposed to talk to Selkie. And considering Plo Quar likely remembers the guy she talked to and knows he’s not a danger to her daughter, this becomes purely about her relationship with the human special services.
My brain can never remember the “Quar” part of her name. My memory always defaults to “Plo Koon”

I don’t often relate to all sides of a conversation like this, but damn.
I LIVE in Todd’s world, I sympathize with him hardcore here, but Avery is very much caught in the middle. I like how Todd understands that and how there are limits on Avery’s abilities.
I may also 100% tag certain ‘caught in the middle’ numbers like Plo Quar does. Ass is just one of several options.
Yeahhhh this makes me feel sorry for Plo Quar. She’s clearly not happy, has done all this to keep Selkie safe, and doesn’t want to be reminded unless it’s necessary, likely because it hurts so much.
Like I said, it’s too early to say if we should hate Plo Quar or not.
Doesn’t look like a great place.
Let us remember that Selkie’s mom’s clan are the ones known for being drama queens.
