Huh, here I thought they lived in a corner of the lake, but nope, pond by what seems to be a hiking trail. Must have started a urban legend or two.
I had to look it up because my brain said “pond” but my brain is also a jerk and a liar sometimes.
She lived in a pond with her mom at some point after The Farm.

Your first line reminded me of a bit from Woody Allen’s “Play It Again, Sam!” Where the character is having a fantasy of seducing his best friend’s wife and blurts out; “My head says this is wrong, but my heart says; Forget your head! It’s a lying head!”
“I walked over the land…” that’s a statement of considerable hardship for a Sarnothi, surely?
