POHL: Well... that could have gone better.
TODD: Yeh.
POHL: You okay?
TODD: Okay-ish.
TODD: I don't feel good about lying to Andi. There's... some history of that between us. I feel like I'm being hypocritical.
POHL: Todd, we don't even know what the security clearance on this is yet. We'll talk to The People in the morning, she shouldn't be out of the loop for too long.
TODD: Yeah... Yeah, you're right. Thanks, Pohl.
*In the morning... a phone rings.*
TODD (blearily): 'ello?
CALLER: Todd.
TODD: Who this?
CALLER: TODD!

Today's edition of the Secret Commentary is empty, because Dave failed to come up with something for it.
They warned you not to take her barrette off her head, Andi…..
Oh dear…
Pohl: So Todd the good news is your security clearance just got A LOT higher. The bad news is your security clearance just got a lot higher.
Todd’s not home…
Oh s**t….
Like the old quote says: “You had only one job, Andi!”
Oh dear, is it not working the whole time? Shoot.
Sounds like Andi’s been caught in “the loop.”
I wonder if other Samothi have just nabbed Amanda to figure out what is going on
Nah. As far as we know, Then and Pohl are the only Sarnothi who know about Amanda’s situation. And as far as we know, Then is the only Sarnothi working directly for the US govt, so I doubt he’s told anyone else yet – it’s also been like, half a day, so there hasn’t been time to tell anyone.
I don’t trust Then and I’ll bet ya a dollar to a donut that the first thing he did after getting off the call with Pohl is call his boss. It could have been a government group securing Amanda. Hmm. Government angle, did not think of that. Good observation.
I don’t think it’s Andi, Todd would recognize her voice more easily. My guess is Agent Brown.
Or future!Todd (I kid), but yeah probably Agent Brown. Really hoping that’s a “humans can have echo powers? we need to talk!” voice of urgency rather than more along the lines of “so somebody took off her barrette and it caused an Incident, care to explain this?”
Imagine not having the security clearance to know what health issues your child has but still being her primary caregiver. That’s a disaster waiting to happen. Also how would you ever trust the people who hid something this serious from you ever again? At least now Todd is startingto realize how Andi felt keepingsuch a major lie from him. Puts them on horrible yet equal footing.
That’s my thought as well. That, and Andi seems more like a screamer type if she would be calling in a panic about why her daughter’s eyes are suddenly on fire cause she touched the one thing she shouldn’t touch.
Or the government suddenly raided her apartment and took away her daughter.
Not to mention, they have enough history together that even pre-coffee Todd would likely recognize Andi’s (probably nigh unhinged) screaming immediately.
I’m…curious about how the “narration” boxes are dialogue boxes? Or vice versa…?
If you mean the “Todd” “TODD” boxes, those are rectangular dialog boxes to indicate the person on the other end of the phone (though more often accompanied by a zigzag “↯” sort of tail pointed at the phone). To contrast, the narrative boxes are generally attached to the frame margins and outside the frame border while dialog boxes/bubbles maintain their own border, covering the frame border and margins if necessary.
“I’m you from the future, Todd, here to stop you making a horrible mistake!”
I wanted to write this!
