POHL: Okay, time to start lessons. What's your two's plan for the evening?
TODD: Amanda has developed an interest in murder mysteries.
AMANDA: I crave... inspiration.
TODD: Thanks, now I'm terrified.
AMANDA: Good! Ha ha ha.
AMANDA: Oh! Did you find those candies Aunt Marta said I should try?
TODD: Yep. Spicy Cinnamon Bites, I got some poppers in the oven, and I found some jalapeno pickles if you feel like it.
AMANDA: Sounds like suffering. I'm in!

Nuclear Pickles are so good
Amanda’s really becoming my fave character. XD Cuz I also love spicy stuff for that reason.
This sounds kinda like me growing up, when my dad introduced me to peperoncini as a snack… except then I graduated to jalapeños, then proceeded to habañeros and ghost peppers, and now am growing my own Carolina Reapers 😈
Yup. My daughter is now training her beloved in “the ways of the spice.”
I think my 11 month old has had more spice in her year of life than my sister has in her 30-odd years. Haven’t let her try my Thai food when we order takeout yet, though. I’m happy to let her try new things, but I’d also like her not to die. So we’re just sticking with normal foods, really.
So far, she likes salsa (proper salsa, not that Pace stuff), jalapeños, banana peppers, Valentina black label, nanami togarashi and the copious amounts of chile powder that go into just about anything I cook. Pico is hit and miss. I think the misses are occurring when there’s lime added rather than the spiciness itself, but haven’t nailed that one down yet.
My kids’ first solid food was curry chicken. Never looked back.
My parents told me a story of how, when I was like 1 or 2 years old, I sat down in front of the refrigerator one day, wearing nothing but a diaper, with a jar I’d pulled out of the fridge, popped off the lid, and started noshing down on a whole jar of Pickled Japapenos like they were a jar of Sweet Baby Gherkin pickles or Bread and Butter pickles. 😛 I apparently had gotten about halfway through the jar before they found me, and I apparently didn’t care one iota. 😛
Now my favorite spicy condiments are pickled jalapeno slices or Tabasco sauce. 🙂 I’ll put Tabasco Sauce on food like some people put Frank’s Red Hot or Texas Pete on their food.
“Sounds like suffering “ *snerk*
Humans’ love for spicy food is one of those traits that makes us Space Orcs. See the Freefall strip I put in my name URL there.
Holy crap I haven’t seen that comic in ages! Thanks for the link! 😆
Amanda’s head is freakishly large in panel 3. It was a cringe moment when I saw it.
