AMANDA: A little nightmare is okay! Thanks Dad!
TODD: Ha ha, just don't tell anyone at school.
AMANDA: Who at school would I even--
AMANDA: AAAAH! It's Ms Flower!!
TODD: Huh? Your class's TA?
AMANDA: Yeah, she lives down the hall!!
TODD: Why are you so scared?
AMANDA: SHE ALWAYS ASKS ABOUT HOMEWORK, RUN!
TODD: Pfft!
JESSIE: I wasn't even gonna ask this time1 But you SHOULD still be doing it, though!
AMANDA: A little nightmare is okay! Thanks Dad!
TODD: Ha ha, just don't tell anyone at school.

JESSIE: I wasn't even gonna ask this time1 But you SHOULD still be doing it, though!

Honestly, with the fact that she’s straight up gossipping about his personal life (The bit at school) to Andi, and the full connectedness of her job and his life, it feels weird to keep Todd in the dark about this.
This is, of course, me relating to Todd and placing myself in his position, but I’d really want to know, and would be irritated that it was kept from me. (Not that it was happening, just that it was kept a secret). I can also totally see why they WANT to keep it a secret, it’s just that in Todd’s position…I would not care.
I agree, and now there’s the potential for some ugliness, or at least some serious awkwardness, when Todd finds out and a) realizes that she’s the one who told Andi and b) that Andi lied about it.
And the other shoe drops
out of curiosity, what’s the age difference between Andi and Jessie? Three, four years?
I fondly remember the day I could sing the happiest words in the English language: No more pencils, no more books. No more teacher’s dirty looks.
I argued for months with my parents to take a year off before college.
“I just got OUT of prison! I’m not going to jump at the chance to incarcerate into another one just because its bigger and has a Burger King inside the mess hall!”
(Didn’t win, by the way.)
Unfortunately a lot of scholarships and the like are hard to get if you take a break between high school and college, which makes it harder to afford. I do wish that they would allow people to take at least a year off in between. I think being in the work market would help kids decide what field they want to go into or give them motivation. Though, I am also a fan of high schools doing more job shadows and co-op in university, so it might just be my personal opinion.
I definitely agree. I wish I’d done a gap year, basically just working some random job and being 17, instead of going straight to university to do a degree I’d chosen when I was 14 or so. I had zero self-knowledge. Working even a crappy job would have given me so much more idea of the real world, plus made me understand a hell of a lot more about money and the consequences of having none and the importance of financial management.
I deliberately went to a community college in another state (used the excuse of my grandparents living nearby) because there were no dorms, no cafeteria, no set first-year schedule, and none of the other requirements some universities place on freshmen to try to keep them out of trouble. Not that I tended to get in trouble, I just didn’t want to be told where to live and eat, etc. Loved college/university, being able to pick your classes and schedule make all the difference.
My parents were of the same mindset when I discussed it with them. Something about how if you take time off before college, you’ll never get a chance to make it back.
Then as adults, we end up going back. Took a year off work for a Master’s. Best year of my life.
Clue bus just arrived at the terminal: see Todd connect 2+2. Hes already figured out where Andi heard about his incomplete pass.
The hidden note makes me chuckle a lot. It would really be hard for me to not abuse that if I was around Amanda. At least with extra credit assignments you get something from it. My high school had “honors” work that all it would do would be give you an H beside your grade if you did enough of it, it wouldn’t change your GPA. Was a lot of extra work for just a simple letter.
Is the PHhht him laughing at the small goof ball or stifling t he word fuck… because the penny just dropped and he figured out who blabbed about him kissing the girls teacher?
I think it’s the first one, he looks like he’s smiling.
i’m a bit confusled here… how did Jessi get past Todd talking to Andi in the P-way right in front of her door, without being seen, yet seems to be coming from “away” from the apartment door… where Todd and Amanda / Andi were just talking… looking back thru the last few strips, i’m not sure when/where Jessi was able to get out of the apartment and “hide” down the hall in order for her to fake out the kids when she sees them right now…
Well the girls were in the lobby and Andi asked Todd to give her some time to let her paramour leave, so I assume Todd possibly went to join the girls and help them bring back the candy. It should only take a few moments for Jessie to leave the apartment and slip down the way to her own. Worst case she goes down the stairs and they come up the elevator or something. If Amanda knows she lives in the building it won’t be at all strange to run into her in the hallway/lobby/stairwell etc. so long as shes you know dressed and not immediately coming out of Andi’s apartment.
Specifically Todd left the apartment in 1500 and they returned in 1503 with Amanda springing herself on Andi. In 1504 Todd is standing behind Amanda, so its reasonable to think they came back to the apartment together.
I recommend Columbo: Murder Under Glass for the mystery. A howcatchums are great for starting off with mystery writing thanks to the simpler format and this particular howcatchum is perfect for showing how a murderer can end up hanging themself from the start.
