You may be right. I initially thought that Selkie and others were paying off their meal by doing manual labor, but the accent makes me think otherwise now that you’ve pointed it out.
And yet, the first time he accidentally sets it off while scratching his balls… that story will echo across the bottom of every lake on the continent until his grandchildren are… uh… until SOMEONE’S grandchildren are themselves old and grey! 😀
I feel like that hand is a little more practical than might be first thought.
He’s fully planning on being an Eel rancher for his whole life, right? And he’s learned first-hand that getting too close to an aggravated eel is dangerous… So he’s got something that’ll always be close at hand that’ll give him a little more reach than usual, and keep the rest of him out of danger if he needs to handle that sort of situation again.
I wonder if Echo-made technology could be used as a basis for designing new human tech, like prosthetics. Might be a nice way to improve interspecies relations, if the sarnothi can help a few human war veterans and amputees out.
Hey, how do you quarantine a Sarnothi with a case of the Ich?
Surely they get some fungus or parasites?
Runners get athletes’ foot, artillery folks get missile-toe, Sarnothi probably get something?
as they are fresh water there are SEVERAL cured for ich. Including a mild saltwater bath. API General cure, metronidazole praziquantel, thats an anti parasitic AND an antibacteriologic. Arithromycin would also work ANY of the human analogue antibacterials would work. Ich, velvet, hexamita, ect all would be endemic sarnothi social diseases i imagine.
methalyne blue also works (and is safe as an antifugicide for eggs) (How to Foster a baby Sarnothi would probably be the same care and feeding as an axolotl i imagine)
I wonder how they handle Mycobacterium which in humans causes… inflamatory diease much like arthritis. but in fish it tends to cause deformed spines and bent tails..
My bigger question is are they susceptible to Iridovirus (seems to effect anabatoids and chana/parachana species)
(I keep LOTS of fish)
as for quarantine.. meh get an olympic sized swiming pool heat it up oxygenate the hell out of it, medicate the hell out of it and it goes away.
Ich I have to imagine has to be something as annoying as chicken Pox.
Thank you, that was fun to read, expanded my horizons, and will be some interesting side reading. The whole -bent tails- thing intrigued me. Homework that’s fun!
Dangerous slope, there. Once the American government got wind of this tech they’re going to want the rights to it. And they can hold Sarnothi safety over the heads of anyone they want. No, better to keep this tech away from humans as long as Sarnothily possible.

Er, are the balloons switched in the first panel?

I believe you are right. Don’t remember Selkie talking like a hillbilly before.
Forgot the “ksshk” sound when Todd is speaking again.
Think that was just omitted due to spacing. We know he’s kssshking constantly, don’t think it needs to be included each time, at least in my opinion.
… OH. MY. GOD. -_-
Hey, it happens. 🙂
My favorite reaction to pointing out a thing that needed fixing was “arghhh!! *throws laptop*” ^_^
(I’d pointed out that the character couldn’t easily change clothes while his hands were chained together.)
(I think the most interesting “whoops” I’ve made is describing a colorful object inside a car… while they were driving at like 4 a.m. in the dark.)
Robot hand with a build in spear gun?
This does not set a good precedent for Selkie.
But it sounds like excellent merchandising.
Oh, Dave…?
Oh, dear. Well, it’s what I would expect a kid to pick…
…little hard to explain on dates, though.

I have to hand it to the kid he looks badass.
I’m bad at remembering callbacks from earlier in the comic, someone’s gonna have to fill me in.

So I guess we just didn’t see him get his hand bitten off.
Next strip.

Heh. First hand.

i was laughing at the fact that… humans and sarnothi.. have the same kind of idiots.

Teach your kids to keep fish tanks.. they wont have money for drugs.

*Angry Murloc noises* This was meant to be a reply to KC.
