In more serious tone, they’ve worked on correcting Amanda’s anger issues, I hope this is the start of working on Selkie’s inability to at least process any criticism, whether it’s kind or not. Not saying she should think every criticism is correct, just that she seems to always just blow it off after a day, ie: doesn’t accept the way she speaks is incorrect, despite every adult advising her of the issues.
Seconded. Selkie needs to learn that not every correction or criticism against her is an attack on her. Sheโs just as bratty and snarky as Amanda is and she needs to be called out on her behavior all the same.
On the other hand Selkie also reacts like a bullied kid. After a certain point, you can become hyper sensitive and everything feels like an attack. We have seen Selkien has been verbally, mentally and even physically bullied for years. Now she is living on and off with her main tormentor and they are sisters. That doesn’t erase those years, or that damage. (And a sister can ABSOLUTELY be an abuser) It’s excellent characterization, really, same as Amanda’s response to abuse was to perpetuate the cycle. Frankly, Selkie could use a therapist too.
I’m always amused when I can tell when a typo is made from a QWERTY keyboard, or from a Dvorak, or from neither (and sometimes from a phone). It’s like being able to spot tells for certain foreign languages, like random capitals or word placement errors or the like.
Also, it makes random keyboard smashing look all weird: lraoeuntoehus doesn’t look at all like the kind of thing you’d get from smashing a QWERTY.
Okay, I understand where her reaction is coming from, but at this point Selkie’s the one that’s being a bit of a jerk.
Yup, now Selkie has crossed the line. i get it, but re escalating is a bad move….and very 8 years old.
Both these factors. Kids are brats. :p

Amanda: “Sprry?”
Mouthful of cookie, maybe?
Or the O and the P are right next to each other on the keyboard.
The accuracy of this offends me. ;p
You had a mouthful of cookies while tyoing? ๐
…
darn cookies

Typing in dvorak, I don’t have this problem. O gets replaced by a or e instead. :3

Further proof she doesnโt actually know that word.
A spurious apology?
I’ve seen this before, with children taught the “count to ten” thing.
They start treating their counting like a verbal threat.
Kids count up, parents count down, itโs all just numbers. 1, 3, 6, 10, 15, 21…
Like that. Or maybe, if I have to stop this car!
It is weird to admit that I dislike oatmeal cookies to the point where the smoked salmon option sounds much more appetizing to me?
