Maaaay have snooze alarmed a bit too much this morning. đĄ
Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all have a great new decade!
Me a couple months ago: it's kind of getting annoying to have things revealed to the audience, but not to the main character. Me now: Oh no
Ho boy…
Oh…. that’s a face that spells trouble.
With a capital T and that rhymes with P and that stands for Pool.
oH NO
I think the fact that her Dad tried to throw her mom to the wolves and thatâs why he got thunderblasted has something to do with her. Maybe she isnât old enough to deal with it now, though…
Has Todd figured out that Scarâs Selkieâs dad yet, though?
It seems like he hasn’t figured it out, because he thinks “making things right with Plo Quar” has nothing to do with Selkie. Could be wrong, but that’s how it comes across to me.
I think I can quote the great philosopher, Scooby Doo, when he said; “Rut Roh!”
I think that’s what he was about to divulge before Todd stopped him, with “By her, and by- [our daughter/child]”
“Yes, I am of wanting to leave her out of this. However, it is seeming that she is not of the same wanting.”
“On an unrelated note, is your home of having the back door?…
Oof, are we going to have one doozy of a reveal on the first Friday of the year?
Happy new year Mr. Dave!!
And of course she heard everything. It’s not just a literary trope, it’s a basic fact of life that if there’s a kid in the house, they’re probably listening to what you’re doing.
Like yeah, at this point I’m absolutely not surprised that Selkie managed to sneak away from Sai Fen and eavesdrop and to be honest, Todd really shouldn’t be surprised either. She’s kinda got a track record of doing this.
Uh oh. Here’s trouble.
Poor Selkie. This is the worst way to find out about your Dad.
Eesh. Little pitchers and their biiiigg ears. Such tropes exist for very good reasons: when you’re surrounded by those so much more powerful than you, seeking whatever advantage you can is just good survival strategy.
I audibly went “oop” O_O
Uh oh
Uh Oh
UH OH
Whoops. Selkie looks like she aims to finish what her mom started.
Man, Todd is a little slow on the uptake here, isn’t he?
“I am having nudge nudge wink wink with her mother [Selkie’s Age] years ago.”
“This clearly doesn’t involve Selkie at all.”
Nah, I think he picked that up. He just doesn’t want his adoptive daughter getting involved in parental “divorce” drama on top of the whole race war thing.
That is a BIG mood.
Selkie doesn’t need the magical green rays to flay someone alive with her eyes
It is as they say- the walls have ears.
Actually the phrase is, “Little pitchers have big ears”… which is odd if you think about it, if the ears are too big you can’t tip the pitcher.
The “ear” of the pitcher is the handle, and even small pitchers usually have bigger handles than adult human ears.
The phrase, the âwalls have earsâ was common in the Cold War era of the sixties, kids I knew would build miniature mics to listen in on their siblings.
Looking at that deadpan glare, I find myself suspecting that Selkie, at least, has reached a step past Tod and realized exactly what Scar’s next statement was going to be. Something about ‘daughter’, I imagine đ
Bio-Daddy’s in trouble… And anger, or strong enough emotions, feed power…
Dang it, Dave. You couldn’t have waited to butt in until he finished those last two words, could you?
Although considering how much she’s heard already it’s perhaps for the best he didn’t get to say “my daughter.”
And by “Dave” I mean “Todd,” of course. Derp.
*facepalm*
Also not overlooking Todd’s juvie comment. Before or after he got adopted?
Also, let’s hope the emotional surge doesn’t give Selkie the breakthrough push she needs to take after Momma and blast off his other arm.
Todd was in juvie a lot before his adoption, and some after.
A lot of his trouble experiences stemmed from the abusive parent/s he was taken from. He was lashing out and getting into trouble himself, as a defense mechanism for being beat up by an alcoholic father.
It took time after his removal, to heal from that… much as we’ve seen with Selkie’s and Amanda’s road to healing and becoming better people.
It almost looks like Todd either hasn’t fully realized the implications of Scar’s story or is in denial. I’d’ve though that with Todd’s own history of being kept from his child he’d be a bit more understanding of Scar’s desire to have some connection with Selkie.
Yeah, Toddâs reaction here doesnât feel at all natural.
Todd doesn’t know what we know. For someone who hasn’t been told Scar is Selkie’s father and may not yet have worked it out, it’s a perfectly natural reaction.
“Toddâs own history of being kept from his child heâd be a bit more understanding of Scarâs desire to have some connection with Selkie.”
has it being established that scar is selkies dad???
Its been clarified that he was intimate with her during her time at the farm so the timing says there is a very very good chance Selkie is his kid unless she had other lovers at the time.
To us yes, to Todd no. Tien (sp?) got Scar to confirm it to him after the colony visit.
Noooo, Todd, I know he didn’t do the nicest things, but Selkie IS still HIS kid, don’t be THAT guy who keeps them away from each other when he clearly wants to make sure she’s okay…. >.> GO SELKIE!!! TELL’EM WHAT FOR.
Didn’t do the nicest things is putting it lightly. I think anyone who knows about this would be entirely justified in demanding Scar get out and never contact them again.
Scar was a exploitive turn-coat/traitor. Between Toen, Then, and Scar, The one who has changed the most is, … None of them. I trust None of them.
Raise your hand whoever did not see that one coming.
… Bueller?
Hey, what’s that heading directly towards the fan? It looks like….oh…sh-
Selkie’s expression doesn’t show simmering rage, rather resentment and disappointment.
She unfortunately goes through something many orphans who find their birth parents do: they won’t like what they see, for one reason or another.
And it’s doubly a shame. Even though Selkie only ever phantasized about her mother – since her father obviously wasn’t around -, that is definitely not what she wanted to find out about him. And she even had a soft spot for Scar, him being a gentle giant under the facade of a Bond villian’s henchman.
Weeeeeeeeeeeeell [interlinked sex indicator symbols].
That face is THE BEST face. I mean.
(Gonna have a
SparkEcho breakthrough?)(Sorry; just came here after catching up with Girl Genius.)
while i HOPE that this scenario happened to the rest of the village/farm…
but my mind works in weird ways: What IF: the people that were coming to GET Plo Quar were prepared for a slightly less-than-subdued bounty and came armed to the teeth… since she was free enough to drop Selkie off at the orphanage, we know that she did NOT get taken here, heck, she may not have even BEEN there when they showed up… but all the OTHER residents were captured by them and THEY destroyed the village in order to prevent any re-habitation by anyone else… Scar just wasn’t coherent enough to know this (and was probably left for dead anyways… since no money needs to be paid out to a “dead informant” after all, no loose ends for the bad guys to clean up if he’s dead)
Tricycle? I am confused on that turn of phrase
He went from 4 limbs to 3.
He got his arm shot off, so I think he means he has three appendages.
Fulfilling Todd’s requst may prove somewhat difficult now, it would appear.
