Two items. First, I want to say to those of my readers that live in the UK, I hope that you and those you care about are safe and unharmed while these riots have been breaking out. I was reading some pretty rough articles about the situation, and my all goes out to you.
(if needed, here is one of the articles: http://news.yahoo.com/britain-burns-riots-spread-uk-cities-013736610.html)
Secondly, I also want to announce a second Sketch Day Saturday. I have been doodling concept sketches for background characters once this arc gets to the school day. Check them out on Saturday.
For a brief time I considered having the centaurinas call their dance the Paul Pena, but that would imply Selkie knows about him, and it doesn't fit to me that an eight year old would know who Paul Pena is. I may be overthinking this a bit. ._. For those that don't get the reference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ioT_1zxsYME http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dnGj5YF8F0
Uh oh. Poor Selkie. They even torment her in her dreams…
o.o Whoa, this dream appears to be turning into a nightmare…
Seeing as I know all things, why exactly is it that it’s shifted to a nightmare?
My dreams are either:
A. Idiotic messes of filth and stupidity
B. Good, warm and fuzzy with marshmellows, fun and epicness
C. Horrible nightmares from A to B. I always end of dieing in an epic way though.
Just curious as to why the change of pace, and please, please do sketchs more often. They’re always fun to see.
😀
Well, it depends on what is going on in one’s life. My dreams have varied over the years depending on what’s been goin’ on in my own life. She’s on the verge of going to school. She hopes it is awesome but fears she shall encounter students like the bad orphanage girls. It comes out in the dreams. That’s my experience, anyway. People dream different but this probably still holds true.
Change of pace is because there are things she is excited about, and things she is not really looking forward too. Both kinda creep in to dreams.
Thank ya’ both for the replies, guess that’s true enough Jade.
Whoa, is that Derpy Hooves’ cutie mark?
Not intentionally, no. Keisha’s horse half was modeled off a picture I saw of a Blue Roan.
Thanks for your concern, Dave! The situation sounds extreme, but it’s really not that bad. There’s shops being trashed and looted in city centres but elsewhere it’s fine. Most people in Britain don’t live right in the centre where rioting’s taking place. And London and Manchester were pretty quiet last night! (Basically, after the first couple of riots they moved 16,000 police to London, which calmed stuff down there. Then riots broke out in Manchester as well, but they’ve done something similar on a smaller scale there. But there’s still big trouble in Birmingham.) Three Asian (note: Asian in the UK sense is usually assumed to mean Pakistani/Indian/Bangladeshi not Chinese/Japanese) boys were killed in Birmingham, though, and that could spark more race riots between black and Asian communities. Probably won’t though, because it’s Ramadan at the moment so the Muslims are all fasting and generally putting in effort to be good people.
Sorry for the rambling post, it’s a bit crazy here at the moment and hard to explain. But it’s really not as bad as the article makes it sound. Every day we’ve had a few hours of things being completely mental in certain city centres, but everywhere else is as normal.
These are the kind of kids I want to drop in the nearest volcano.
Cheers, Dave.
My friends in London and Birmingham are fine! And now I can relax with a new Selkie. It doesn’t get better than this.
And this makes me want to go all out Mandalorian on Amanda and her friends. I don’t like bullies. AT ALL.
Well, it is only a dream. I can’t imagine Selkie putting up with this kind of treatment in waking life.
(Mandalorian? I like that!)
Agreed. Leftover sympathy for Amanda after the side story just dropped to nil. If it’s bad enough that Selkie even has nightmares about it, it’s BAD, and she doesn’t deserve any sympathy.
if Selkie were a horse in this, she’d probably be a bit pale.
Awesome comic by the way.
